But Sam Ray did it on purpose after the jack propping up his 1998 black Dodge Dakota collapsed July 2, pinning him under almost 5,000 pounds of metal. His left hand was stuck under the truck but he used his right hand to bang a tire iron against the vehicle. No one was home. Out of sight of the road and out of earshot of neighbors, Ray needed a miracle. He recalled praying, and that's when he heard Siri's voice from his back pocket.
:v:
I'm surprised Siri didn't fuck up and start a route to the nearest hospital
Siri the life saver hahaha. The last thing I would expect to save my life.
"I guess I'm stuck with an iPhone for the rest of my life," he said. "I owe them that."
Well, that's one way to look at it.
after the jack propping up his 1998 black Dodge Dakota collapsed
Maybe instead of buying iPhones in the future he could invest in some jackstands instead.
Maybe instead of buying iPhones in the future he could invest in some jackstands instead.
Or he could just buy a Nokia phone and use the phone as a jack.
Maybe instead of buying iPhones in the future he could invest in some jackstands instead.
Or ramps. I personally love ramps their super easy to use. Forget cheap plastic/carbon ramps grab some made of steel. I used two types ones with dip groove and ones without both worked well.

Honestly an android device would be better suited, as long as you have your phone set to always listening. So when your at any screen or your phone screen is not lit, you can say "ok Google.... Dial 911"
Honestly an android device would be better suited, as long as you have your phone set to always listening. So when your at any screen or your phone screen is not lit, you can say "ok Google.... Dial 911"
not only that but it has FAR less of a chance to break
I can just imagine being in this situation "Siri! oh my god siri! call 999!" "...Here's what I found on the web"
he could invest in some jackstands instead.
True. Every jack I've used has a giant warning on it to place stands under the car after jacking it up, then remove the jack. Or use ramps, but they're best used when you have someone watching you to guide you onto them. The only thing holding a hydraulic jack up is basically a rubber gasket. If that fails, crunch, like the poor guy in this story.

This would even be more silly if he was using a scissor jack
Or, I dunno, do what any half experienced mechanic tells you to do and put the tires you take off underneath the car. Even with jackstands, always put the wheel under the car so if anything fails, you at least have that to keep the thing from falling on you.
I can just imagine being in this situation "Siri! oh my god siri! call 999!" "...Here's what I found on the web"
That or siri replying "Sorry I didnt catch that, Did you mean im having fun?"
"I bought an iphone instead of jack stands and I'm now super lucky I didn't die. Guess I should just buy more iphones." Good call.
"I bought an iphone instead of jack stands and I'm now super lucky I didn't die. Guess I should just buy more iphones." Good call.
He can use the iPhones as jackstands.
I can just imagine being in this situation "Siri! oh my god siri! call 999!" "...Here's what I found on the web"
Lol Siri needs a huge update to compete with Google Now and Cortana. Everything you say to Siri, it just asks if you want to search [del]Google[/del] the web.
I can just imagine being in this situation "Siri! oh my god siri! call 999!" "...Here's what I found on the web"
lel. I think I'd chuckle slightly, even while in pain.
lel. I think I'd chuckle slightly, even while in pain.
I severely doubt it.
"I bought an iphone instead of jack stands and I'm now super lucky I didn't die. Guess I should just buy more iphones." Good call.
How the hell was he supposed to know that the jack was going to give out right then?
How the hell was he supposed to know that the jack was going to give out right then?
Because only complete fucking retards don't use jack stands. Idk if you know how heavy a vehicle is but uhh, safety is important.
Not going to deny, usually I keep Google Now's voice detection disabled. But since I flashed a new ROM I didn't bother disabling it. Guess I might keep it on in case of a situation where I can't reach my phone.
Lol Siri needs a huge update to compete with Google Now and Cortana. Everything you say to Siri, it just asks if you want to search [del]Google[/del] the web.
Its a solid way of moving away from doing any work. Oh you have a question? Heres the search results for it. Siri is an over glorified LMGFY piece of trash
On mine, the screen has to be on for that to work
Do you have a nexus device? I have a nexus 6. I think it might be a nexus device thing. Mine works even when the screen is off. Sometimes it catches it when im talking randomly, but its very seldom.
When jacking up a car, put a brick or block or something next to the jack so you don't get squished
When jacking up a car, put a brick or block or something next to the jack so you don't get squished
Orrrr, you can just not be a cheap-ass and buy jack stands You know, the things that are going to keep the vehicle firmly in place without having to worry about things collapsing. Seriously it's like $100 for four 4-ton jack stands and that's way less than the fucking hospital bill you'll receive from being crushed by a car because you were too damn cheap to pay for some jack stands. Risk benefit analysis, is $100 really worth risking your life? You're already saving money by not taking the vehicle to a mechanic's shop, another $100 isn't going to kill you.
"siri, dial 911" "sorry, i can not do that dave"
