Good evening,
I've been playing around with using some weird sounds as samples for dubstep bass, my cat purring for example, so I figured I'd make it into a song. I didn't fancy starting from scratch if I'm honest, so I've gone for a james bond remix. It's not completely finished but it's near enough there, please let me know what you think of it and what should be improved- but focus on the bass. It does require some mastering, too..!
EDIT: Sorry for the bump, but I've come back to this is made it a lot better so I'd like some feedback on it, thanks :buddy:

Thanks.
Try and make the wobble more subtle.
Sounded better then most dubs I've heard lately.
Mix could use a little work, everything sounds pretty dull and a little muddy, needs more energy in the high end.
This is pretty solid man, the only thing I can reccomend is getting some better synths and mastering it.
The placement of the James Bond riff among the wobble is superb.

He needs to fix the mix before he does any mastering. Mastering is not a replacement for a good mixdown.
Thanks for all the comments, they're really helpful. I'm working on the things you've mentioned, the higher frequincies parts I'm adding are making it sound great, as well as bringing out the higher frequencies in the bass with some EQ and using less modulation.
Can you explain what I should be doing to improve the mixing? I'm going to lower the bass and bring up the drums, I've layered up the snare a bit more so it has more of a crack now and cuts through but I guess I'll need to do something with the kick. What else is there? I've also brought up the levels of all the instruments in the non-bass sections so the volume is fairly consistent throughout.
It's muddy as hell. And you need a more interesting wobble. I recommend making atleast two different wobble sounds that you switch between. And changing the beat up(even subtly) wouldn't hurt either.
Thanks a lot for all your comments. I've taken them all into consideration and already there's a massive improvement, but I think it still needs work so I'd like comments on the new piece.
I have:
EQ'd a lot to un-muddy the bass
Added higher frequencies riffs and such
Basic changes like some things in higher octaves and new drum patterns occasionally
Couple of new samples etc
Made the kick come through better
Better mix
Some mastering

Sorry for a bump, but I figured it's better than making a new thread. I've come back to this song and improved it a thousand times, so I'd like some new feedback and whatnot. (I've changed all the links in the thread, the old version is still up on soundcloud though).
