It turns out that if you load the game up on Christmas day (or change your Xbox 360 clock to make your machine think it's Christmas day), then press both Xbox thumbsticks down, the loading screen shows a new view of the eponymous Halo space ring, complete with a scrolling message reading, "Happy Birthday Lauren". The text, it seems, was included by one member of the development team, Adrian Perez, who directed it to his wife and never expected it to be found.
Halo 3's easter eggs were my favorite of any game, really.
Finding those skulls and unlocking armor/achievements was the funnest thing to do with a friend.

That skull where you had to jump through the hoops took forever though.

Yeah, i can't believe i did it all. Just to get some ninja armor that everyone had already.

Had the best effect tho, having npcs shout battle cries of random shit was so funny.
some of the effects i remember if you had the skull on were: marines would occasionally yell "THIS IS SPARTA" if you gave them the heavy laser, grunts would tell a long rambling tale about "nipple academy", and brutes would rarely yell "WE DON'T TAKE MASTERCARD" on berserk.
I still remember doing literally everything. Like playing the second mission on every difficulty and going down to the end of the one hallway to hear all the RvB eastereggs.
I still remember the day I found out about the monkey family.
Hyped for all the Destiny easter eggs
Makes me wonder about all the easter eggs in other games that have never been seen. Surely there's a bunch of cryptic ones that the public hasn't found.

I still remember in 7th grade. I stayed up til 4 am trying to do that. I slept through class the next day and got detention. But at least I could show off my Hayabusa armor to my pleb friends that didn't have it.

There was that easter egg in a batman game that hinted to another batman game's development that nobody found until a developer gave it away. It was after the other batman game was released, too.

That's because it was put in for that exact reveal as a marketing stunt.
I love how Bungie slips little things into their games.
I especially liked their hint at Destiny back in Halo 3: ODST

Ubisoft did a thing like that with Watch Dogs and AC IV. If you read the memo's and emails in the computers you hack, one of them is an email from a blume employee asking abstergo to switch to and support ctOS

I think the big difference is that while Blackflag came out in 2013, a year before Watch Dogs, ODST came out in 2009.
Bungie was in it for the long haul.

Yeah but that was after watch dogs was announced, not before.

That Hayabusa though.
Truth though, Cortana Skull was the most difficult because you had to play Cortana on legendary, it was always complete arsemince.
Hayabusa was lame. Security Helmet was where it was at.

E.O.D. Armor + Katana.
That's the life.
