At least 16 people, including two policemen, were injured in the clashes. Demonstrators loyal to opposition politician Imran Khan and cleric Tahrul Qadri have been taking part in a sit-in for two weeks. They want the current government to resign, alleging corruption and electoral fraud. Local TV pictures showed police throwing tear gas shells, and protesters throwing rocks back at them, some wielding sticks and slingshots. The protesters began their sit-in after a huge march from Lahore to Islamabad two weeks ago, vowing to camp out in the capital until the government stood down. Last year's elections marked Pakistan's first civilian transfer of power.
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-29000563 okay so what started as a peaceful civil disobedience campaign against electoral fraud has turned into full blown violence. It's not in my city but according to social media right now violence is errupting here too https://twitter.com/hashtag/islamabadMassacre this tag has images and stuff and more info from people who are taking part
So what are the political positions of Mr. Khan anyway? All I've heard is that he is apparently a populist demagogue. And how likely is it that he could win the next election? If they are populists, then Khan and Qadri kinda remind me of Huey Long and Charles Coughlin.
