The Home Office says the move is key to tackling crime and terrorism. They have no right to attack our privacy, if the legislation goes through, Britain will be no different from regimes it criticises such as China and Iran. It would enable intelligence officers to identify who an individual or group is in contact with, how often and for how long. They would also be able to see which websites someone had visited. Government should scrap plans immediately.
You need to be a British citizen to sign it. Thanks!
Still waiting on the confirmation email.
Does it really need my address? I know that it's on a secure connection, but even with that i'm a bit iffy on the concept of giving my address to someone in an online form...
Because internet petitions have done so much in the past.

signed.
signed. I was wondering when one of these was going to happen.
It's shot up from ~3k to ~5k in a matter of 3 hours, nice Share it on Facebook and spam your friends, they'll love you forever
I might have signed if I were british. Then again, getting shit done generally requires more than a petition, and that's unfortunate.
What, are you worried that the government will order a load of pizzas to your address or something?
Duh, that's why we're in the recession.
Not British so I can't sign, but thanks to this thread I know what they're trying to do. I hope it gets knocked down.
Right, finally I've been able to sign it.

Internet petitions rarely work, but I've signed it anyway.
Internet petitions rarely work, but I've signed it anyway.
Given the fact the government are now trying to reassure people its not as bad as it seems and it will debated suggests the outrage is working.
I got several of my friends to sign it, please do your part guys. Every little bit is gonna help.
Signed. I hate living in the UK more each day...
