Thumb image immediately! Also I feel old.
who has monitors that big really?
who has monitors that big really?
Oldschool 56k warning for an oldschool movie thread.
It's fixed now. That really was way too much cake.
It's fixed now. That really was way too much cake.
Do not try to eat the cake, that is impossible. Instead, try to realize the truth.
You know, I know this cake doesn't exist. I know that when I put it in my mouth, the Matrix is telling my brain that it is moist and delicious. After fifteen years, you know what I realize? Ignorance is bliss.
let us remember the one RIP Kiono Reve's Career 1980-1999 he never was able to get out of the "the one" mold even bruce willis was able to get out of the "unkillable cop" role [editline]31st March 2014[/editline] also i just took a handful of blue pills, nothing's happening.
he never was able to get out of the "the one" mold
A mold created 4 years previous to him actually being "the one" ?
and it only took me 15 years to notice that they edited out the color blue in all the scenes that take place inside the matrix
One of the things I liked about The Matrix was how they worked so much humorous stuff into the story in fun and entertaining ways. Stuff like why everything tastes like chicken, the Oracle predicting he'd knock something over(or did she?), then saying "not too bright though" when he asked who liked him. That was something the sequels just didn't have enough of imo.

I thought the sequels were ok
What about the prequels? Is your facebook photo up to date!? :)
The first Matrix was great. Performances weren't the strong point of it, that's for sure. It's how they managed to create this world were the main protagonists felt super powerful yet extremely fragile if not careful. I didn't mind the sequels but they were definitely weaker. Neo was just too powerful and too much obvious CGI all over the place. My favourite part of the sequels was probably the fight in the chateau and the chase on the highway afterwards. In those Neo isn't super overpowered and the rest of the gang don't do anything extreme. Except for Morpheus who has less trouble fighting newer version of Agent than the one (was it Smith?) in the first movie. Sure, he has a sword and better starting position but it shouldn't feel Morpheus has a winning chance. I still have goosebumps watching this: (added healthbars, why not)
I actually thought it was weird to see Neo fight pretty normally in the sequels. From all the talk about The One in the first movie and then actually seeing what The One was capable of (in the first movie, again), generic wire-fu action with Neo felt of place imo. It's like the writers wrote themselves into a corner due to hyping out The One too much and then found themselves unable to write any compelling and engaging stuff without Neo and the Matrix gang fighting a bunch of people in the Matrix.
I like that I know where most of the locations in the movie are.

The Matrix ends with Neo flying around as a superman with full use and control of his powers inside the Matrix, then somehow in the sequels he's back to where he was before he beat Smith at the end of The Matrix. He fights all those Smiths but then flies away at the end. I think it's obvious that for the sequels the writers couldn't come up with a storyline to continue with Neo all powerful, so they knocked him back down. Essentially they tried to make Neo an underdog when he should have been the most powerful thing in the Matrix. In 'real' life he's just a human but at the end of the first movie he owned the Matrix.
the writers couldn't come up with a storyline to continue
Yeah I noticed that too, like they were just coming up with ideas to justify sequels and had no real grasp on the underlying concept. These guys broke down the whole idea of "The One" quite well I thought:
the matrix: first movie to be shot entirely in green, not green screen, just green
I still love this movie as much as the first time I saw it. The sequels don't exist to me, but this movie is still excellent.
I still can't get over how fucking terrible the sequels were.
The Matrix Trilogy influenced my concept of cool and overloaded my 14 year old brain(six years ago). To this day I don't think there's been a better super-powered fight that the Super Burly Brawl and the first movie is a work of art.
The Matrix does what it does very well, that's for sure. I'm still glad that I saw this first, however:
The sequels were fine IMO. I just wish they took one minute of every combat scene and made a proper ending. Anyways, i'm really looking forward to this: If everything matches, i'll personally consider it a prequel to Matrix. Also, it has Johnny Depp and Morgan Freeman. It can't be bad.
I just realized I have never seen this movie. I'm guessing I should go watch it?
I just realized I have never seen this movie. I'm guessing I should go watch it?
Unless you've been living under a rock all these years, YES, go watch it. Even better, watch it in green ASCII for maximum pleasure.
I just can't forgive how it made all the nerds and creeps wear long black leather mantles back then.
I just realized I have never seen this movie. I'm guessing I should go watch it?
It's a good movie but keep in mind that it came out in 1999 and some of the clothing will look autistic by today's standards
