I am pretty sure all of you have read a book, loved it, and a while later, a movie comes out for it. Of course, you being a fan of the book, go and see it. Sadly, most are about as true to the book as Hitler when he said "Naw we will never invade you Stalin". My case is Lord of the Flies. I have read it around 15 times since I was 11, and love it to bits. I picked up the movie on a old VHS of 2 bucks and watched it... It was terribad. The book is basically a social test one what kids would act like if they where thrown away from civilization with no help atall. The movie instantly destroys the main premises of the story by having the adult pilot alive. It continues to demolish the rubble by giving them medkits, glowsticks, rations and a raft. SO MUCH FOR NO HELP FROM CIVILIZATION. Two important characters in the book are Simon and Piggy. Piggy is portrayed as a fat, intelligent and ignored kid in the book. This is true for the movie, but he barely even acknowledges the conch's existence. The conch is another major point, and its barely ever shown, and Piggy barely cares for it. In the book, he literally tries to defend it with his life. Simon is largely ignored, and only seen minorly compared to his role in the book. He is ofen described as the voice of adult reason, yet he is shown as a quiet boy, and quite childish. I wont continue, because I will ruin the plot of the book. I highly disrecommend watching the movie, but highly recommended the book. Post other book movies that should be burned, too, so we may avoid.
Twilight. It's just really bad. The effects are horrible, and the story is bland.

Eragon made me not like the book series anymore.
Oh yeah my class and I watched both the black-and-white 60s version of Lord of the Flies and that remake you talked about in school a few years ago. We had a little survey telling of which one we liked best. I expected people to say the newer one just because it's in colour but surprisingly most people said they liked the original better because it didn't suck poop like the remake did. I didn't like the original too much, but at least it was faithful to the fucking book.
Eragon made me not like the book series anymore.
Amen my brother.
Some new-agey Romeo and Juliet I remembered seeing was absolutely terrible. Everyone had firearms instead of swords, and there was helicopters involved somehow.

Harry Potter.
The Hobbit was a pretty good destruction of the book. The only things redeemable about it in my opinion, were that Bilbo's voice wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, and the environments were just like in the book. However, the whole thing was rushed, most of the animation and characters were ugly, character development was taken out, along with other cool characters as well, most of the voices sucked, and it was just.... shit.
This is more so for good books that translated into bad movies, not bad books into bad movies.
Ah, okay. Probably Eragon then. It was just mediocre all around.
I know it was a childish series, but: The Lightning Thief. The book was actually pretty good. I like the series. The movie was, to put it simply, a children's movie and had very little resemblance whatsoever to the book. I was thoroughly disappointed.
They messed up the actors for "A song of Fire And Ice"'s TV show. Seriously, Cersei looks like a fucking teenbopper, the mere memory of her face should have me cumming buckets after buckets. And how come Tyrion isn't all disfigured?

Some things just couldn't translate though, like Simon's little confrontation with the Lord of the Flies.
V for Vendetta. Don't get me wrong, the movie was fine (Hugo Weaving is does the role well and Natalie Portman is still good looking), but compared to the book itself, it can't hold a candle. It felt too American-ized (Ironically, I'm American).
I'm not much of a book person, but back in school we had to read the book The Outsiders, and it was actually pretty good Then we had to watch the movie, and it was I think one of the poorest film adaptions I've ever seen. The entire film was a jumbled mess of scenes that made no sense unless you had previously read the book
1984, it just didn't do the book justice. The transferrance from story to screenplay took out so many of the intricacies that made it such an enjoyable read. I think it's just one of those works that is best left to it's original medium.
Eragon. They butchered it. I can never look at the books in the same way again.
Animal Farm Some of the book bits are cut out in the movie.. and most of thoes are the best parts!
The Sharpe series. The TV-Movie series is brilliant but when you read the books they dont seem to hold a candle. Also some silly choices here in there. Mainly WHY IS THE SOUNDTRACK A FUCKING ELECTRIC GUITAR SOLO WHEN ITS SET IN THE NAPOLEONIC TIMES.

DaVinci Code was a horrible adaption from book to film.
I remember that, HAND ME MY LONGSWORD (autoshotgun).
Ahaha that was fucking priceless really.
Avatar : The Last Airbender. El knight shamyalayanayeaaan ruined it... (not from a book but still worth mentioning)
I remember that, HAND ME MY LONGSWORD (autoshotgun).
That part was hilarious. The rest sucked though.
Cirque De Freak: The Vampires Assistant [img_thumb]http://images.wikia.com/darrenshan/images/9/9c/Cirque_du_freak.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://www.shocktillyoudrop.com/gallery/3604/Cirque_du_Freak%3A_The_Vampires_Assistant_16.jpg[/img_thumb]
YES! The books are amazing, yet I had to facepalm my way though the movie.
Talk about a movie that has NOTHING to do with the book. Yes, I love Jackie Chan, but it's not a reason to like this film.
I guess Wanted sort of counts. It was cool but nothing like the comic.
It has some cool plot twists like [sp]Judas being the traitor[/sp]. But overall it was pretty mweh. Little character development, a lot of recycled bits. You never find out who god really is. Contradictions. Plot holes. But it has some awesome kickass characters like Moses and Jesus. Jesus was pretty well developed, he felt a bit mysterious. Always acting like he knew more than the rest. And the last line before he died "Forgive them father, for they do not know what they are doing "( or something like that) Was just epic. So overall it's pretty clichè (borrowed alot from other mythologies), with little character development except for Moses and Jesus. And pretty predictable. They should make a sequal but since original writers are probably dead it probably won't be as good though.
