• Challenging Monsanto: Over two million march the streets of 436 cities, 52 countries
Millions of activists around the world have rallied against Monsanto, the biotechnology giant for genetically engineering agriculture and food while suppressing negative scientific research. The day of protest has already ended in Europe, where thousands of activists in Germany, the Netherlands, the UK, Ireland, France, Malta and elsewhere took to the streets to protest against Monsanto abuses. Earlier in the day, hundreds of demonstrators in Brisbane and Melbourne in Australia and across Japan and South Africa took to the streets to protest against the multi-national corporation and to demand a ban on Genetically Engineered and Genetically Modified Organisms (GE/GMOs).
http://rt.com/news/monsanto-gmo-protests-world-721/
monsanto - the worst company in the history of mankind
monsanto - the worst company in the history of mankind
Not according to the polls :eng101:
I marched all the way to the end of my driveway and back.
I marched all the way to the end of my driveway and back.
You deserve a medal.
Not according to the polls :eng101:
Hey, guess what. They're weren't on that stupid poll.
I hate to be pessimistic, but I have the feeling that this is going to achieve absolutely nothing and the protesters will be ignored and dismissed.
Honestly the people who should be the most against Monsanto are pro-GMO advocates, they can't distance themselves from this shitheap of a company fast enough
I haven't heard a single thing about a protest in Brisbane, and I usually get emails from GetUp about random dinners across the country so I assume I should have gotten something if it happened.
Damn. As terrible as it is i would LOVE to have a majority in Monsanto... Imagine how much power one would have?
demand a ban on Genetically Engineered and Genetically Modified Organisms
I wouldn't go that far but I think we can all agree that Monsanto is evil.
its actually terrible the media isn't reporting this
Earlier in the day, hundreds of demonstrators in Brisbane and Melbourne in Australia and across Japan and South Africa took to the streets to protest against the multi-national corporation and to demand a ban on Genetically Engineered and Genetically Modified Organisms (GE/GMOs).
areyoufuckingkiddingme. How fucking delusional do you have to be to deny the effectiveness of GMOs? Not everyone can afford to buy organic, or even have access to organic food. Penn and teller did a pretty good bullshit! episode on the topic, its worth a watch.
areyoufuckingkiddingme. How fucking delusional do you have to be to deny the effectiveness of GMOs? Not everyone can afford to buy organic, or even have access to organic food.
We should totally petition the governments of starving countries to ban GMO Foods which could potentially feed their people. Its insane that people have "Starvation" on their protest signs when these foods could potentially stop world hunger if the population stops growing.
I learned about these guys in Uni this year, and while I don't disagree with the science of what they're doing, I find their business practices absolutely disgusting.
The problem isn't GMO's. I'm all for that, the problem is Monsanto's bullshit business practices.
Oh now I understand why I saw 5 people leaning/sitting near the river tour area in Nashville with GMO signs. They seemed bored as fuck. The 2 homeless dudes farther passed them having an argument about crack was funny though.
I have no problem with GMO's and hope we can do more with them. Monsanto on the other hand is the definition of evil.
From what I've understand this company bioengineers organic food why are people protesting against them O.o? Bio engineered food is the future. These people seem to be the ignorant conspiracy theorists that like to be fed with bullshit. Can someone please explain why they're evil, thank you. nvm found doc
Monsanto announces new product: Soylent Green
From what I've understand this company bioengineers organic food
You must be completely ignorant of their domineering, aggressive business practices and how they use money to push absolutely bullshit laws/political fronts. They're basically trying to play monopoly and winning.

They're basically trying to play monopoly and winning.
Oh if so then I'm completely against that, but from what I see people who protest against them don't mention anything in regards of them pushing any kind of laws ..., they're all about GMO's which trying to stop GMO development is like trying to stop the inevitable from happening. Most of the people who protest against them, are uneducated conspiracy theorists, do you agree?
Most of the people who protest against them, are uneducated conspiracy theorists, do you agree?
It could be anyone's spin or just the louder individuals. As someone who went to a Tea Party march in 2008, there was a surprising lack of rednecks, people calling Obama a Nazi/Communist/Hitler/Stalin/Satan, and general ignorance. Oh, it was there, but it wasn't the bulk. People protesting Monsanto's rampant practices are all fine. People going "GMOs are going to kill us all!!" are not. People protesting for more extensive research and study on GMOs hold valid complaints. So, I can't really agree or disagree - I'd have to actually be among the protesters to get an actual idea.
they're all about GMO's; which trying to stop GMO development is like trying to stop the inevitable from happening.
It's not the GMOs that I'm even slightly upset against. I'm all for (well-tested) GMOs. It's how Monsanto goes about it's business that's so offensive.

Protesting against Science is retarded.
Protesting against Science is retarded.
Welcome to people. And the problem is, the people trying to point out the real issues may/will get overshadowed by people flipping the fuck out over GMOs. It's why it's hard to host a legit protest against current government actions without getting conspiracy theorists, militias, and all such people in on the mix. :v:
I understand your reasons, I just annoys me that Anti-Science Hippies are making a turn on this, they should be protesting against them strictly based on your reasons. Protesting against Science is retarded.
Honestly, as long as these protests create awareness of Monsanto's bullshit I don't really care what they say about GMO's. They will come to realize that GMO's can be great when they're actually well tested and regulated.
They're not protesting against science really, they're protesting about putting it into the food supply (With wild claims, etc.). I actually agree with some of their arguments (Like tighter restrictions on experiments), I've read horror stories about experiments on GM food being handled so badly that the GM plants spread and interbred with wild species without the researchers knowledge, etc. Being against GM foods as a whole is stupid though (Similar to how people want fruit in the off season, but then don't want it to be imported or frozen, etc.)
If you click on that RT link there's someone in a Guy Fawkes mask teamed with the rather fetching combination of a trenchcoat and top hat in the video thumbnail. Hmm.
im down for GMOs what im not down for is patenting seeds and forcing a monopoly on fucking farmers and their crops
monsanto - the worst company in the history of mankind
shell nigeria still exists
