Never sure whether BBC videos have region restrictions. Hopefully at least one of these will work for everyone.

Poor kid, his parents get killed by a NATO bomb, and then the Taliban tries to get him to blow himself up.
I'm impressed. He resisted the brainwash of the Taliban.
What an awesome bit of news to wake up to!

shoulda waited till he hit puberty, the whole 72 virgins thing sounds like a weird deal to a 12 year old

To be honest I feel if most of the 12 year old kidnapped by them felt they could escape then many more probably would before they could be totally brainwashed.
This is the most incredible pieces of news I've seen all day.
If he hadn't escaped, the media would've called him another evil suicide bomber like all the rest, since demonizing an entire population of people is easier than just explaining that the bombers don't have a choice and don 't want to do it at all.

well I mean some of them do, theres plenty of videos where theyre smiling and shit while theyre putting on vests and getting ready to do the deed.

That's because as mentioned above they've been brainwashed in a way into believing that it's their god-given duty. I suppose in that state of mind, many want to do it, but before their kidnapping? No, of course they wouldn't.

Because if one person doesn't want to do it, then they all must not want to.

The people they get to do these bombings aren't their own people, they're people they've manipulated into wanting to do it. The ones running the show would never do something like this themselves. I know you want to believe that brown people just love blowing up white people but that's really not the case.

Indeed, although not every kid can act as a suicide plane pilot, so that might take one of their "own" people.

I think oddly in most suicide bomber cases more afghani civilians get killed then nato troops.

Yeah because it's a civil war, we're trying to help one side win. The Taliban views civilians who don't adhere to their beliefs as enemy combatants and will kill them just the same as any NATO troops. In 2012, Taliban attacks on civilians made up 80% of civilian casualties in Afghanistan.
I'd place him into the WPP.
I dont think I could be brainwashed into blowing myself up. Not if the Taliban tried it for years. Dont fancy it.

Imagine China comes into your town, occupies it for a few years. People stand up, they get killed. One day they raid your house and kill your family and take you away. You get away from them and the resistance decides to allow you to fight back. Would you?
Also poor kid, glad he got away. I hope he stays safe, they'll probably go after him now.

no because obviously he's a badass and is invulnerable to brainwashing

WHAT A BADASS
That's outrageous. Fuck the Tabilan!
That kid has a right to life and he doesn't exist just so he can explode at a NATO checkpoint.
I'm glad the kid got away.
