• First semester in band.

Well, to start off, I picked trombone as my instrument, I've no experience in this instrument whatsoever. I'm pretty much a COMPLETE noob when it comes to concert band instruments, hell.. I can't even read sheet music to a complete master status. (Nonetheless, I'm learning slowly in the class.) I know the B(flat) scale, but that's it. And that's not really too much to go on when it comes to playing songs. It seems , like.. 3 months into the class, I'm starting to not take in any of the information, meaning, I forget everything, notes the composer/teacher teaches me. He basically has our entire noobie part of the section meet in the trombone room during practice/freelance and he teaches us all the basics and stuff. But, I fucking lose ALL of it. Any tips on how to take all of this into my brainz, and to be frank, master the damn instrument. I know, it will take a considerable amount of time to do so, but I'm willing to learn. :D My goal is to atleast try to play at our school's senior graduation, which is in early June. TL;DR: trombone noobie wants tips. D:
Take private lessons, if you can afford them.
Practice makes perfect.
You won't be a master after the first semester in band, it's a gradual process. Good choice of instrument too.
It's pretty fun and I like the sound of it. Should I tell my teacher that I don't think I can play at any concerts and just focus on practice? I'll still get the grade if I show up to the concerts and stuff.
Play every day. Whatever scares you in the music, work on that.
The start is always going to be slow, but hang in there and you'll be improving after some time. Feel free to add me on steam if you need help with your theory
