“It was brutal,” Scott Klinck said after watching the video of his girlfriend’s dog being killed.
He said Merrick had survived horse kicks, porcupine quills and even being hit by a car once during her more than two decades of life.
And the way the pet ultimately met her demise was “so heartbreaking,” Klinck said.
“I was disturbed that he didn’t even get out of his car to look,” he said of the officer. “I was just blown away.”
The OPP has confirmed the animal their officer shot dead was a dog not a coyote.
Video is in source. Obviously it is graphic.
I am pretty upset by this - this officer handled this in a wildly inappropriate way.
“Due to the danger this animal posed to both people and other animals and for the safety of the community, police had to put the animal down,” Const. Mark Kinney said.
I don't care if it's a grizzle bear, hitting it with your car is not a humane way to deal with a potentially dangerous animal. Where's animal control? The dog didn't pose an immediate threat to anyone. The officer should face animal cruelty charges.

Reportedly they originally called animal control and were told to contact the police instead.
I dont understand why that would be.
That is NOT a fucking normal way to deal with a potentially dangerous animal, what the fuck.
This is fucking disgusting, I can't even bring myself to watch the video

Don't it's worse than you think it is. The poor dog was still walking after being hit 3 times and suffered long before getting shot.
What in the hell made it "potentially dangerous"??
even if they did think it was a coyote, coyotes are not even dangerous to begin with.
- snip I am no read -

Yeah alright fuck that
Sick cowardly motherfucker.

Coyotes are dangerous as fuck in Ontario, they tear up farmer's fields, kill livestock and pets, and have even been known to attack children. They're such a problem they're one of the few things you can hunt year-round.
Disgusting motherfucker, I hope he receives charges on this.
I don't want to be protected by people like this.
I don't want to be protected by people like this.
A guy like this wouldn't try protecting you in the first place.
Coyotes can be pretty dangerous. In my backyard when I was about 8, I got attacked by a coyote after I got off my trampoline. We had a big yard and there was a lot of overgrown grass and it just came out of nowhere as I was walking to my house.
That being said I don't see the threat this dog posed, and that's sure as hell not the right way to handle the situation
Ok as a vet ive treated dogs that have been victims of animal cruelty, but that officer is very saddistic and has broken so many us laws from what he did
Yeah, ok, let's run over that identified furry thing that may or may not be someone's family pet multiple times then shoot it dead.
That's a reasonable response for a potentially dangerous animal, right? What a moron, jesus.

It was night time and it was apparently raining? Not trying to excuse his impulsive decisions but I can see how you might make that mistake in those circumstances. Even the people who took the video thought it was a coyote.
"Huh, might be a coyote, time to run it over just to be done with it."
Christ, it's sick as it is but did he really have to make it worse by running the dog over repeatedly

Huh. Where I live, they are chill. They live in a state park, all the room they need. My dad has run into them a lot while walking our dog through the park and they just kind of stare, and then take off. My dog is about coyote sized. They might kill a cat every once in a blue moon.

in ontario I know housing is starting to approach on wildlife, so the wildlife is coming closer and closer to civilization. so they are coming into towns/farms and becoming a nuisance, its our failt really.
And now I know why people hate the police.
Hope karma hits this fuckwit right in the face and he gets to be ran over 3 times and shot

Yep, the police did this. Not one guy, the police

"Now I get why people hate blacks"
"Now I get why people hate Jews"
"Now I get why people hate [any group]"
It doesn't even matter whether the cop legitimately thought it was a coyote or not. Running an animal over with your car shouldn't ever be your method of choice for putting it down.

I find it very interesting when people talk about Karma as if they themselves are justified in wishing grievous injury on another person..

If they did something really terrible then they would deserve it if karma was real Which it isn't. I'm just stating a hypothetical situation were karma actually exists.

your view of karma seems to be rather twisted
