Basically nothing has changed. Sundar is still running everything involving consumer technology under Google while the founders of the company are off funding crazy life changing research under Google's sister companies.

I'm interested to see how this changes Google, since a lot of their divisions were getting kinda diverse. They'll all be under Alphabet now.

Alphabet will not be a consumer facing brand. This is only relevant for Google's investors.
