Why a new handheld? The 3DS is doing fine.
. On the console side, the “Terminal” is reported to have a 2.2GHz 8-core PowerPC CPU, a custom Radeon-based GPU, 4GB of DDR4 RAM, 2GB of DDR3 RAM
Isn't that about the same as the Wii U?
The handheld supposedly sports an ARM Cortex-A53 CPU, an Adreno 420 GPU, 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM, and two 960×640 capacitive touchscreens
Thank god for that. I couldn't stand the size/resolution of the screen on the 3DS. Glad to see they're getting more in line with the Vita in that regard because that thing is beautiful.
Both sources won't load for me, pages not found in other words.
Shouldn't this be labeled as a rumor?
So? Microsoft and Sony are likely working on their next generations as well.
snip
Maybe they're doing the new handheld for if (and when) the 3DS drops off, which would probably take many many years considering its current popularity.
Also, this "Terminal" sounds like it might be some sort of "upscaler"/streaming device so you can play Fusion DS games on your TV.

the problem is that the url is literally http://www.extremetech.com/gaming/17...onsoles-spread
OP must have picked the links from another forum in a hurry or something, here are the actual links

not only are the code names stupid but last time i checked ddr4 is backwards compatable so it would not need both ddr4 and ddr3

There is no way that they are putting a 4.60tflop gpu in there. A GTX Titan does 4.5tflops.
This is why they own the name Nintendo Fusion.
People seem to think that you can't make good game consoles if they can't port between other consoles or have good graphics.
The Wii U is perfectly capable of having games that everyone wants, thus selling the system. They need Super Smash, Mario Kart, and Zelda BADLY.
My Wii U has been sitting around since I bought it, only being fired up for a few days playing Mario 3D world. But I know it's not a waste, I know my life is over once the next smash comes out, or someone hacks it to do crazy things with that controller.
It's true the system is a flop, but they are at least trying new things. Maybe not in a social gaming branch, but with their innovate ways to interact with games. I mean, in Rayman Legends frantically swiping platforms and poking shit on that screen while your friend runs though the level is mad fun, and something that hasn't really been done before.
So you can say the system is shitty or underpowered, but at least Nintendo has enough pride to continue trying new ideas whether they fail or not.
Nintendo has said that they started work on the Wii U rather early on in the Wii's life cycle, I believe. It's no stretch to think they're already working on their next entry.
Whether anything in this rumor is correct is another thing entirely.

Nintendo is probably planning to sell the Wii U for at least 5-7 years more - so why would they have such specific specifications at this point in time? Not to mention the fact that the GPU would seem to be based on the current R9 GPU which will be totally obsolete at that point in time.
This is nothing more than fake rumours - sure, Nintendo is probably already developing the Wii U2, but these "specs" have nothing to do with it.

We heard about Cafe in 2011
and Citrus in 2009
and Nitro in 2003....
why does ANYONE fucking think nintendo would just fucking dump MILLIONS of dollars into some new project when they spent MILLIONS producing the wiiu
god
why would they make a new 3DS
is this a big joke I'm missing, like it's a parody that people think this could be possible
Yeah, I doubt this is happening any time soon. Way too early for Gen9.

objectively speaking, the gameboy line has a short span between each of the recent semi-generations, though the iterations have been upgrades that don't necessary kill off old generations. Up until the 3ds (maybe DSi? I didn't pay that much attention), you could still jam a GBA game into a DS. They were still producing GBA games, and today they're producing standard DS games that don't require the 3Ds to run. I somewhat expect a new step-model that does something like increase quality/resolution of the 3D display, or introduce a capacitive touch screen instead of the current pressure-based one.
Isn't that about the same as the Wii U?
Nope. The Wii U uses a cpu based on a PowerPC 750 cpu that's a tri-core running at 1.24GHz
The new CPU would be based on this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/POWER8
1 Coaxial Cable Input
Does anyone believe it after seeing this?
I heard it also has a parallel port!!!
I would totally buy a nintendo system with hardware specs to battle the ps4. I am not getting a wii-u though, not until it becomes cheaper. Even with the prospect of Bayo 2, Smash and a new Zelda I still don't think it's worth it.
idk about this, the one pic ive seen out there looks more like a prototype for the wii-U instead of a whole new console, and thats what sparked this whole thing off anyway
Oh boy, can't wait to buy these!!! I'm almost as excited for this as I was for the GameCube Next and Game Boy Evolution!
I heard it also has a parallel port!!!
Better have a ps/2 port or I'm not buying!!!!
