Car fires happen all the time because people never get their engine checked for leaky hoses and also people getting in and out of their car while filling up in the winter. Actually only 15% of car fires happen from inside the passenger part.

Except that if you actually read the article the guy had left a leaky canister of acetylene in the car. It's more a miracle the gas didn't spontaneously ignite when someone was walking by.
