The Ministry of Defence has confirmed that Michael Fallon has resigned as defence secretary, after he said his past behaviour may have fallen short.
Fallon is the first minister to step down from Theresa May’s government in the growing scandal about sexual harassment at Westminster, which has seen a series of lurid allegations emerge in recent days.
He apologised earlier this week over an incident 15 years ago in which he made unwanted advances to the journalist Julia Hartley-Brewer, placing his hand on her knee.
Doesn't this have the potential to end the current British government?
Also, are all these coming out of the wash because of the Weinstein case or is this coincidence?

Nah he's still an MP, will just be replaced as Defence Sec by someone else
Weinstein is having a huge effect. This resignation is actually pretty surprising because even the woman who Fallon was inappropriate towards said herself that it wasn't that bad and she doesn't think he should be pursued over it. I would have expected him to stay in the job and wait for it to blow over.

This surely raises the pressure on Damian Green, who is essentially Theresa May's deputy and is facing his own sex harassment claims, to go as well.
This is huge because it sets a standard - if Fallon thinks the relatively minor and retracted accusations against him warrant resignation, what next for those with genuine harrassment claims standing against them? Especially the Deputy PM? This could finally tear this Godforsaken cabinet apart. I hope.
He didn't resign over a hand on a knee. Things are oozing out of Westminster.

Go on?
He's served 4 PMs (in different roles) and seems to be doing the honourable thing by saying the actions he took weren't worthy of the office which he holds in high regard. The military also like him and were sad to see him go.
As much as i don't like the Tories this seems like a pretty personal resignation of him feeling he's not meeting the standard. When you compare it to the US (grab her by the pussy), someone taking it on themselves to resign for this seems like the proper thing to do.

Na, the slimy fucker resigned before anything worse leaks to the media: https://twitter.com/tnewtondunn/status/925816221618057216 .
He'd still be there if this dossier wasn't going around.
This week gets better. Hopefully I'll wake up and find out that free cream buns are now mandatory global law.
A fresh face got installed as the new SecDef

This kind of shit's coming out of every orifice of the Tory party.
May fucked up again
[editline]asdf[/editline]
Not to mention this is the guy who sat on the "Dirty Dossier" in the first place. He knifed Fallon in the back and took his job. Apparently he fancies himself party leader, and getting into a position like this was his last obstacle towards trying to be PM. Everyone's talking about how much of a fucking slimeball the guy is, and how May's so weak he basically appointed himself.
Literally never heard of this fucker before lol
