A Glen Burnie man told 11 News that he was burned with a hot knife and iron as his family was held captive during a home invasion and robbery last week.
Although the family is still in shock and said they fear for their lives, they decided to tell their story in hopes of getting the culprits behind bars and to prevent another similar incident from happening to another family.
"I have some third-degree burns to my hands. They might have to do some skin grafting," said the victim, who 11 News will call Ted to conceal his identity.
Anne Arundel County police said on Jan. 11, Ted was on his way back to his home in the 6500 block of Cedar Furnace Circle when three armed and masked men suddenly forced their way inside and demanded money.
"I immediately got out of my bedroom and peered over the top of the stairs to see what was going on downstairs, and I immediately saw men with masks, and they were wrestling with (Ted), and I immediately went around to get my children," Ted's fiancee told 11 News.
Ted said the men forced his fiancée and their three young children to stay in an upstairs bedroom while the attackers cut his finger and slashed his face with a heated knife, as well as burned his hands and ear with a hot iron.
"They had put an iron on the red hot range and, with my hands tied behind my back, they proceeded to burn my hands," Ted said.
After nearly an hour of torture, Ted said they took him upstairs, where they struck him several times with a firearm as his family helplessly watched.
"There's nothing that could prepare someone for that," Ted's fiancee said through tears.
The armed men eventually fled the home with money, electronics and Ted's vehicle, which was found abandoned in a nearby community.
Ted is recovering at the Johns Hopkins Burn Center. He said he hopes telling his ordeal will help bring the culprits to justice.
"I feel like the more this is publicized, the more chances they're going to be caught and that this won't happen to someone else," Ted's fiancee said.
Police said all of the men were black and about 5 feet 10 inches tall. One man has a thin build, another has a large build and the third has a medium build.
Holy fuck this is really close to where I live.
Some men just want to watch the world burn.
Yeah, this leaves me so speechless my only left option is using a quote from a batman movie.
This is something I'd expect in a horror movie, that's just fucking sick.
I wonder if the torturers knew Ted.
:( sad to know that owning a gun would have prevented this entire situation. The fiance saw them wrestling with her husband downstairs, she could have had plenty of time to run to the bedroom, grab the gun, and end this before it got bad. I guess everyone has 20/20 hindsight...
Own guns.

Given she actually shoots correctly and doesn't kill her husband in the process and given the weapon is actually upstairs too.

Uh you could just hold them up. And since she was upstairs in the first place she could get the drop on them.
Also if I was the husband I wouldn't give a fuck if my wife took the chance at MAYBE hitting me over being tortured for an hour+

Yeah pulling a gun on someone who's in a mental state to torture someone would be a great idea we could've had a story about a family being killed instead.

It's hard to kill the family when their dead. (as in the bad guys not the family)

If her husband was wrestling with the guy, chances are the intruder (who came here with something in his mind already) would have used the husband as a human shield, simply.
Plus, if you actually own a weapon chances are in front of such a situation you don't exactly think about taking and using it, except if you had proper training for this kind of situation.

Lol what the fuck are you on man.
A gun > Any mental state you can think of.
A gun > no gun.
A gun + surprise > another gun.
It's hard to kill the family when their dead. (as in the bad guys not the family)
Did you miss the part where the burglars had a gun or are you choosing to think that someone seeing their fiancée getting tortured isn't going to be under a certain amount of distress and hope that they'll manage to just kill however many people invaded their home?

Proper training? I have no proper training and the first thing I'd do if I knew/saw intruders in my house would be to grab the shotgun. It isn't rocket science here.
I'd rather take my fate into my own hands rather than give the bad guys my life and they can pretty much decide to kill me or torture me or whatever since at that point I don't know their motives and clearly these fuckers were out for blood

Two people wrestling > chances of only shooting the guy you're wanting to shoot down
State of shock > Thinking of grabbing a gun and do proper aim
She was panicking, so pulling a gun on three armed men is probably not the best idea.
Two people wrestling > chances of only shooting the guy you're wanting to shoot down

Like I said I'd rather take the chance with my own fate over just rolling over and being at the mercy of some sadistic fuck robbers.

If you were a woman who had lived her entire life without fearing intruders and who just expected a regular night with her husband, you wouldn't instantly think of grabbing a gun and shooting the intruder.
It's always easy to say "I would have done this if I were x" but it's much harder to actually do it when you're in the situation for real.

I'd rather have some third degree burns than be dead.

How was she supposed to know they were going to torture them ?
Plus, there were several men. If you own ONE gun and are alone, chances are you won't shoot all of them down before they get you, even if they're two.
I'd rather have some third degree burns than be dead.
Yeah but guess what you don't know what the robbers are going to do or what they are capable of.
If you feel you want to literally just give them your life in their hands and be like "mercy please" okay that's your choice but I'd rather take my chances shooting them.
Did you miss the part where the burglars had a gun or are you choosing to think that someone seeing their fiancée getting tortured isn't going to be under a certain amount of distress and hope that they'll manage to just kill however many people invaded their home?
There were 3 robbers. She was on the second floor, they didn't know she was there yet. One of the men was on the floor wrestling with the husband (aka not a threat to her yet). She could have easily shot the first guy because they didn't know she was there, shot the second guy because it's easier for her to reacquire a target and shot him before the second guy even realizes where she is and aims at her, and we can assume the third guy was unarmed (firearm-wise) because you don't wrestle well while holding a pistol.
Stop acting like it's a hard thing to do, they weren't sniping for christs sake they're in a house where the targets are 20 feet away.

You seem to think robbers are iron willed. Man just them SEEING you with a gun they will run out of the house. They assumingly aren't suicidal and don't want to die either
Two people wrestling > chances of only shooting the guy you're wanting to shoot down

What the hell is the point of even owning a gun if you're not going to use it for its intended purpose. If someone was robbing my house and they didn't know I was there the first thing I would do is run for my gun. And don't act like this is a trivial decision either. It's not. If you get robbed you don't lock up for 20 seconds thinking 'WHAT DO I DO'. The lady even made the decision to run for her kids and get them to safety. If she had owned a gun she could have ran for that.
The fuck. It was a robbery. Why would the robbers just not rob the poor family, then leave them alone. Why would you go out of your way, after you get what you want, just to torture some innocent people. These men are fucking sick in the head. I hope they get made to be some huge black guys wife in prison, The fucking cowards.

Were not talking about flintlock rifles here. Pistols, revolvers and shotguns are all semi automatic. Also she had the element of surprise. So lets break it down:
Guy #1. Was down on the floor wrestling with her husband, he is no immediate threat to her.
Guy #2. Can be taken out instantly due to the fact that she had the element of surprise.
So all that's left is guy #3. And what it's down to is how fast she can reaquire a target and pull the trigger versus how fast robber #3 processes what happened, locates her, raises his gun, and shoots. I think it's pretty obvious the woman is going to win here. And after that all that's left is guy #1. He's currently wrestling with the husband when he sees two of his buddies next to him get shot. If you're wrestling with someone and someone else is pointing a gun at you, you're not in any position to rambo your way out of this.
So what exactly are we arguing about?

But if eveyone gets pounded by a black guy, where do they get a black guy from?
Seriously, someone has to do the raping.

Racist shit.
Why has this got anything to do with guns? Surely a way more important fact is that people shouldn't do this in the first place?
Given she actually shoots correctly and doesn't kill her husband in the process and given the weapon is actually upstairs too.
Or she misses and causes the robbers to shoot back at her, and then her husband due to the adrenaline rush.
Either way that's a fucked up situation no-one should experience.
