I had really similar effects to this while playing BMS with two people. Saw my buddies weapon animations 'in the distance' but layered into the HUD, kinda.

Probably because the weapon model is set to render above everything (aka why your gun doesn't clip through walls)

It's like that because the game "draws" the viewmodel model on top of everything else in the game, so whilst it may take up 3d space it'l always be visible before anything in the game world. that's why viewmodels look so small when you look at something up close
