During his time as Pablo Escobar’s most feared enforcer, the man known as Popeye killed around 300 people, ordered the murder of thousands more, and masterminded some 200 car bombs during the Medellín cartel’s war against its rivals and the Colombian state. Now, after more than two decades in prison, John Jairo Velásquez is attempting to recast himself as a YouTube star. Through his channel Popeye Arrepentido (Remorseful Popeye), Velásquez says he is trying to warn young people away from a life of crime – but his newfound celebrity has caused distress and offence to some relatives of his victims. Paroled in 2014 after 22 years in prison, Velásquez started his YouTube channel earlier this year at the suggestion of a friend. “From one moment to the next I had 1,000 followers, then 2,000,” he says, in a telephone interview from Medellín.
Source I wonder if he's genuinely remorseful about what hes done. I just don't understand how someone could go that far and then decide to come back to the good side as he's claiming.
If he's preaching the good message then... I mean I don't think 22 years is enough for 300 murders + ordered murders + car bombs but I guess if he's reformed then it follows that he should be allowed to do the right thing?... I guess? Honestly my heart is telling me he should be put against a wall and shot but I know that's not right either.

I was talking about his prison sentence.
Oh anyone can kill 300 people and order thousands of murders and car bombs in 22 years, that's amateur stuff.
really
it was a joke :(
really
Well when I play CS:GO I do 40 kills average per day.
Well when I play CS:GO I do 40 kills average per day.
You probably have a pretty shitty K/D compared to this guy though.
Hopefully he can be a good case towards successful reformation and rehabilitation. While it's an understatement that his crimes were horrible and unspeakably heinous, I hope that he can provide a positive influence in his parole. Breaking the cycle of gang activity and violence is not going to be easy but I respect those that break away from it and campaign against it.
I do believe people deserve a second chance, and this guy genuinely seems to show he wants some form of redemption for himself in his videos. What he did was despicable but everyone deserves a shot at redeeming themselves if possible.
You probably have a pretty shitty K/D compared to this guy though.
well this guys K/D is undefined, because of division by zero..
well this guys K/D is undefined, because of division by zero..
But we can be sure he's only going to die once. Therefore his KD is projected to be about 300/1. Unless he kills more people again
So was he.
I actually wasn't. I completely misunderstood what Grenadic wrote. My fault, sorry. :v:

don't leave a nasty comment though or it'll be 301.
