Around the Nation New Hampshire Chick-fil-A franchise to co-sponsor New Hampshire LGBT Pride event NASHUA, N.H. — The sole Chick-fil-A restaurant in New Hampshire, located in the food court of the Pheasant Lane Mall south of Nashua, will be one of the co-sponsors for New Hampshire LGBT Pride Fest 2012. The announcement by franchise general manager Anthony Picolia came as a surprise to Pride Fest organizers in light of the ongoing public relations debacle over the negative remarks by Chick-Fil-A’s President last month regarding same-sex marriage. It would make me sad if someone felt that they were not openly welcomed into my life or restaurant based on their belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender,” In a statement issue by Pride organizers, Picolia added that his Chick-fil-A franchise “has gay employees and serves gay customers with honor, dignity and respect.” “We also don’t discriminate in giving back to the Nashua community, donating to a wide variety of causes. I would challenge people to come have a conversation with me before they make assumptions or boycott my restaurant. Come to my restaurant and see for yourself that my team and I only have one mission: To serve exceptional experiences to all,” he wrote/ Tara Powell, one of the festival’s organizers, said she is looking forward to working with Picolia and his support of the Pride festival. “This sponsorship is just another example of how great New Hampshire is to the LGBT community,” said Powell. “We are looking forward to having a great Pride Fest, and are very excited to have Chick-fil-A involved.” New Hampshire Pride Fest 2012 is scheduled from Noon to 5:00 PM on August 11, 2012 at Veterans Memorial Park in Manchester. New Hampshire is one of six state, along with the District of Columbia, where same-sex marriage is legal.
http://www.lgbtqnation.com/2012/08/chick-fil-a-franchise-to-co-sponsor-new-hampshire-lgbt-pride-event/
Now watch as Chik-fil-a corporate swoops in and closes his franchise while also suing him for "damaging their reputation" or some stupid bullshit.
Now watch as Chik-fil-a corporate swoops in and closes his franchise while also suing him for "damaging their reputation" or some stupid bullshit.
woah what? i think you people are under the impression that the anti-gay higher up(s) are bigots. i really don't believe this is the case considdering they have openly stated they will happily serve any gay people who come to their restaurant.
At first I interpreted the title as the owner of the Chick-Fil-A franchise trying desperately to make amends for the recent PR fiasco. I'm interested in seeing what the CEO does about this, or even if he does anything at all.
Now watch as Chik-fil-a corporate swoops in and closes his franchise while also suing him for "damaging their reputation" or some stupid bullshit.
Now watch as none of that happens
those few higher ups happen to be the ones with the most control in the company, and the company's official stance on the issue is "get rid of the gays
Source where they said we should get rid of gays?
Source where they said we should get rid of gays?
Its conjecture, based on how much they are against gay marriage.
They'll openly serve any gay person but they'll also give money to anti-gay organizations.
It's almost like people are allowed to support political opinions with the money they earn from their businesses without it actually being a detriment to their professionalism. SHOCKING.
oh this means i don't have to feel bad for eating at the only chick fil a i know... i guess corporate douches still get money for their anti gay crusade
Its conjecture, based on how much they are against gay marriage.
No, that's a very radical leap.
Honestly, there shouldn't be any protesting just because they do not support gay pride/rights, businesses can choose whoever they support, but they cant deny anyone service based on race/religion/sex identity. If they were putting anti-gay ads in their restaurants, I would protest that, it's understandable. I'm glad that the manager is supporting NH pride, too bad St. Louis had their parades already, and from photos i've seen, not many people attend :(, sucks living in a mostly homophobic state.
It's almost like people are allowed to support political opinions with the money they earn from their businesses without it actually being a detriment to their professionalism. SHOCKING.
What? no. They're allowed to have free speech but they don't have freedom from consequence.
No, that's a very radical leap.
Actually no, its not even conjecture anymore thanks to

Exaggerated conjecturer. This is the internet, and this is facepunch, what do you expect, now stop trying to derail this thread.
Huh? I don't see how I am trying to derail the thread considering I was responding to something you brought up.
It's almost like people are allowed to support political opinions with the money they earn from their businesses without it actually being a detriment to their professionalism. SHOCKING.
Actually its going to be a detriment, because we're making it one. Bigots don't deserve to be on a pedestal.
God forbid the man answers a question honestly. Goes to show that facepunch, again, got their panties in a bunch. Good for them. Hopes this shuts up those annoying as fuck "activists" on these forums

Okay? Dont see what that has to do with my post. Either way, you don't seem to complain when money is donated toward gay equality. It's the same thing. Either way its not like facepunch is doing much to help either way. Give me boxes, I know I'm right.
yeah man fuck those activists trying to defend minority rights
Some defending you guys are doing. You sure are showing them all.

I want you to carefully explain to me how this is in any way the same thing.
Maybe if you guys actually went out to defend this stuff in public I would respect you guys more. i doubt a single user would go out to protest publicly. Instead you all rely on hiding behind a screen and voice your opinion on forums that nobody important reads. great job on helping the gays.

And while it doesn't seem like much refusing to do business at places like Chick-fil-A is actively protesting them. Great job expending effort to look like a complete ass however.
