Los Angeles and Torrance police were involved in two shootings in Torrance early Thursday when police came across vehicles similar to the one sought by authorities in a massive manhunt for an ex-LAPD officer suspected of shooting three other officers. Neither incident actually involved the suspect, said Torrance police Lt. Devin Chase. The suspect, Christopher Jordan Dorner, 33, was at large Thursday morning.

Two people were struck by gunfire and transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries, Chase said. No officers were injured.
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2013/02/torrance-shootings.html
Did the people just speed away from the cops or did the cops just decide to shoot up the car without even checking the plates? I don't see how you can just accidently shoot two people for driving a similar car

LAPD are more on edge than usual, whatnot with Dorner out to get them.

Article didnt say a thing about why they were shot, which is weird. Normally it states the events leading up to the shooting
From what I've heard, they just fired because the truck was similar. LAPD are more on edge than usual, whatnot with Dorner out to get them.
Well, this story certainly doesn't give me much sympathy for the LAPD.
Article didnt say a thing about why they were shot, which is weird. Normally it states the events leading up to the shooting
...maybe it's the ex-cop that the entire LAPD is out on a manhunt for?
From what I've heard, they just fired because the truck was similar. LAPD are more on edge than usual, whatnot with Dorner out to get them.
I heard it was dark and the driver had his lights off and wasn't stopping for the road block.
Major fuck up..
It was not immediately clear if occupants of the vehicles matched Dorner's description
Shoot first, ask questions later..
Y'all should've seen how LAPD was like 20 years back. This doesn't really come as a surprise to me.
Jesus christ. There's something called a licence plate, usually you should check that first. That's a horrible mistake.
Damn that is a lot of bullet holes.
cops shoot to kill, not wound.

"An angered ex-cop with military training goes off the deep end after being unfairly dismissed, and vows to remove the LAPD's corruption in a vigilante bloodbath, and it's up to the LAPD to stop him" I hope they get him soon before anyone else is hurt.
Well I hope the girls are okay, the officers are fucked up for just assuming that because they drove the same vehicle that gives them clearance to fire upon them with deadly force? If I lived, I'd sue the fuck out of them. Or family would. Seriously, that's beyond fucked.
-actually, snip-
The officers deserve to lose their badges over this, that is a major mess up on their part.
cops shoot to kill, not wound.
Correction: They shoot to subdue. Which is usually a shot into the chest. But of course this has a good chance of killing someone, given how many vital organs are in the chest.
Correction: They shoot to subdue. Which is usually a shot into the chest. But of course this has a good chance of killing someone, given how many vital organs are in the chest.
no. They shoot center-mass to gain the highest hit %, but they are shooting to kill. Officers shoot their guns until the threat is gone. They do not shoot to intimidate or wound. [editline]7th February 2013[/editline] im not defending the officers in this situation by any means, but im just saying.
Correction: They shoot to subdue. Which is usually a shot into the chest. But of course this has a good chance of killing someone, given how many vital organs are in the chest.
Professionals are supposed to shoot to kill. If the situation has not escalated to the point where employing lethal force is appropriate you should not employ potentially lethal force. Of course, that's just the textbook theory. In reality people shoot how they shoot, for reasons which are more often than not convoluted and circumstantial. That we can see here. The officers shot because they thought their target was supposed to be a threat, even though it wasn't posing one and a clear identification hadn't been made. Training doesn't trump circumstance, it can only influence the final decision.
LAPDs reputation goes lower and lower. It wasn't even the right model of truck it was just blue and looked somewhat similar so they mag dump it
In other news: two LAPD officers have been suspended indefinitely for gross misconduct while on duty. [SUP]I wish[/SUP]
Correction: They shoot to subdue. Which is usually a shot into the chest. But of course this has a good chance of killing someone, given how many vital organs are in the chest.
You don't ever shoot at someone you are intending to subdue. If they manage to survive to be apprehended then great, but if your intention is to subdue them then lethal force is absolutely unjustified. Lethal force is for when someone is too dangerous to simply try to subdue.
Does this remind anyone of The Negotiator? I don't mean this specific incident, but the situation in general.
Talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
