oh hey an old trailer for the first prototype. wait...
and this isn't one of them
Opinions man, opinions.
Prototype was fucking awesome, GTA4 can go suck some dick.
and this isn't one of them
I disagree, because Prototype has potential.
The first game got boring pretty fast, but this might be different.
We'll just have to wait and see.
I'm interested but I don't want to get my hopes up, looks far to similar to the first but I'll wait and see since the first was still a fun game with tons of potential.
A sequel is a chance to fix what you did wrong the first time. :buddy:
I enjoyed Prototype for letting me eat an old man, transform into him, run up the huge building and elbowdrop on his wife.
Protoype was a pretty cool game, although it really repeated itself way too much and became too repetive and extremely boring in the long run.
But I hold expectations for this, maybe they will improve it, not just recycle it. It could become a great game.
What everyone else has pretty much said, Prototype 1 was fun for a bit, but they seemed to run out of new ideas very fast.
As soon as you got that extendo-arm thing in Prototype 1, you won the game pretty much.
Anyway, I'm waiting for 2, I enjoyed the first one.

This is totally your own, unbiased opinion

Whatever you say dude, me and the others will be having fun in the other side of the room.
I liked Prototype 1, and I think that the possibility of having someone be able to take on Mercer is a good recipe for an awesome boss fight (think Hulk vs Abomination for Ultimate Destruction). Hoping that they'll make me make more of an emotional investment in this new character than Mercer, and the revamped NYC with infection everywhere looks pretty decent from what gameplay there was in the trailer.
I think most of Prototype 1's problem though was that there wasn't really much variety, most of the buildings looked the same, there weren't many enemies and not many of the bosses were a lot of fun to go up against (save Captain Cross, who was the only enemy in the entire game who I actually felt that I was on an equal footing with). With these same enemies there were two 'types' of enemy in Prototype: Those you'd absolutely massacre - Blackwatch soldiers, Marines, standard infected, and those you were on the run from - hunters, tentacles, super-soldiers, most vehicles and pretty much all the bosses. Prototype promised to make you 'feel like the ultimate badass', but it didn't really quite deliver on that, the problem being the two enemy archetypes I mentioned earlier.
What I'd like to see in Prototype 2 is a much broader spectrum in terms of both army and infected foes, and from these factions, I'd like to see some better bosses - those you can actually take on toe-to-toe instead of said bosses being able to unleash attacks that knock half of your health away in one two-hit combo which force you to constantly retreat from them and toss rocks at them until their health dwindles to nothing.
The 1st one was fun. Yeah sure it gets repetive after a while and the story wasn't very engaging but how can you not enjoy body surfing through hordes or throwing a car towards the infected and see them fly around or sprinting from building to building or jumping from a very tall building towards the ground and cause a huge blast.
so it's prototype with some generic space marine
Meh as long as I get to kill Mercer. He was an annoying shit.
And the new character is just as generic and uninteresting as Mercer.
The game itself looks good though.
All Prototype needed was some polish and a better story.

Why would you care about story when you can eat a soldier and then summon an airstrike on him best friend?

because believe it or not some people care about an engaging story and not just mindless action you goddamn idiot
I agree that prototype was fun for the first playthrough but it had literally no replay value because you knew exactly what was going to happen, what powers you'd get and when you'd get them, and how to beat every enemy
if they find some meaningful ways to expand on the original game's base formula (FUN, balanced multiplayer please) whilst including a good story (though I highly doubt that's high on their priority list given the first game's plot and what I've read of the second) then this sequel has a lot going for it
if not, fuck it

Hey, no need to go all postal on me.
I enjoy games like Amnesia, Mass Effect and Neverwinter Nights. Just saying that the only reason why I played story missions in Prototype was to get all the toys. The rest was just dicking around, eating people.
