Russian promoting homosexual rights gets harassed by VDV troops

Some background:

August 2nd was VDV day - the celebration of Russian airborne troops. The red-headed guy came unto the Palace Square where the troops were celebrating and started a provocation, preaching for gay rights and acceptance. The troops took that as a huge offense and decided to 'mess around with him and teach him a lesson', but had to restrain themselves due to the huge amount of reporters and journalists on the scene.

Eventually the paramilitary (OMON) arrived to assist the policemen already on-scene, with the intent of keeping everything civil. The VDV troops started acting up and two were arrested, including the red-headed guy.

It doesn't look like LGBT people in Russia are going to be anywhere near accepted anytime soon.

I would rather be gay than be in a an army that made such a god awful cheesy music video. That was so cringey to watch. They look more like professional dancers than soldiers.
