Whats this big deal about atheists acting better than everyone else? Ive heard people on FP say things like "At least he doesn't think hes better than everyone else because hes an atheist" I guess since I live in Kentucky I have not experienced this, because if you say you don't believe in god you are automatically a devil worshipping hitler anti-chrirst so almost NO ONE says they are anything other than Christian or Catholic. I am afraid to voice my religious views, around here it is a social taboo to be anything but a church going god fearing Christian. I guess you should be lucky that the people around you can actually voice their views without the fear of being shunned by friends and family even if they come off as asshole-ish.

A silly question really. Who's a better person, someone who doesn't do bad things because he's afraid of being punished or the one who doesn't do bad things because he thinks it's wrong?

It's an interesting postulation, but you have to consider that what he said is a gross generalization and can't really be used to describe all people. Still, if you just happen to be having an argument about the relationship between morals and religion, this might be an interesting topic to bring up.
