I was sitting in health class today, and we were learning about drugs, (illegal ones), about their street terminology, and how they affected people.
These were the classes of drugs we had to study.
Cannabis- Just marijuana
Hallucinogens- Extacy, lsd, pcp
Narcotics- heroin, codeine
Stimulants- cocaine, meth
I thought, cannabis is listed here why? They should've told us to stay away from deliriants instead.
it's a biased, probably government-initiated health class. the reason they included cannabis is as it's common and people have heard of it, it's the most used etc. the reason they omitted deliriants is that they're uncommon and not too many people come into contact with them.
[editline]08:29PM[/editline]
expect to hear lots about the fact that cannabis is lethal, addictive, kills brain cells, develops memory loss etc.
Deliriants are usually classified as "Hallucinogens"
I've never heard an instructor use the term "deliriant." Most probably don't even know the difference.
I really dislike the term "hallucinogen," especially when it's used to cover a large range of drugs (empathogens, psychedelics, dissociatives).

In accordance to my health class, cannabis is recognize as a hallucinogen at high amounts. Is this scientifically true?
It's an intoxicant/downer with psychedelic properties in high "doses"
Normally minor psychedelic effects are noticeable, while auditory/visual distortions are uncommon.
In accordance to my health class, cannabis is recognize as a hallucinogen at high amounts. Is this scientifically true?
To an extent, I have never known cannabis to cause true visual hallucinations, although I have had auditory hallucinations while under the effects of cannabis.
auditory/visual distortions are uncommon.
I've had a lot of both. Visual only happens when I'm baked beyond the solar system but auditory happens some times. For instance, yesterday I felt like I was hearing white noise but it was really loud but because I made a little noise I realized that there was no white noise playing and I could hear very well the little noise I made so basically it was like I had very piercing ears even if I didn't, it felt weird. Also, I don't think this is a distortion or anything but when I'm high and listening to music the whole song separates into all of the instruments and I become able to listen to each instruments individually and the music get much more deep and profound. Also, I am often flabbergasted when listening to music with great lyrics (most of the time Pink Floyd).
[editline]05:51PM[/editline]
Ah shit, intended to do a short post.
tldr;I do have visual and auditory experiences with pot. I sometimes hear white noise. Music is great. Lyrics are great.

that's... really nothing outstanding, to be honest man. i think that happens to most (pretty much all?) people who smoke weed?

yeah I lol'd
that's... really nothing outstanding, to be honest man. i think that happens to most (pretty much all?) people who smoke weed?
Not much people report this kind of feeling though. I'm glad others experience this as well. Most people will just say : "Oh, music is better when high. " but won't describe how it is better.
music breaks down into constituent parts much more easily; individual beats are isolated and paid more attention to than they normally would do; new effects noticed more easily; more immersion in the music and enhanced stereo etc.
[editline]11:12PM[/editline]
amongst various other things.
When I smoke, one of the first signs that i'm high is how my vision sort of looks like a "low framerate" or something, as if it's under a strobelight, this stays with me for most of the high. I guess this is because of time distortion, but would this count as a visual distortion?

Sure. It's visual. Not in the same way that NMDA agonism or 5HT2A agonism causes visuals but visuals nonetheless. I would classify weed as a hallucinogen if I had to but honestly I believe it deserves its own group.
Cannabis will be there because it's the "gateway drug". Which in a way is something to be worried about if you don't have high self-control.

No.
Any drug can be a gateway drug, I don't know why Aaron is saying no. ( probably cuz he doesnt know shit )

it's a "gateway drug" because it is apparently a stepping stone to harder drugs.
just like caffeine is a gateway drug, as most people have that before they try weed or alcohol.

Yet again, you show off how retarded you are. Would you like to be run out of this thread as well? It must be tough on your parents having to raise a special needs child such as yourself.

Even more no.
Aaron you are a fuckin idiot. Just because you googled " marijuana is not a gateway drug " and post a bunch of links saying it's not, doesn't mean it is not.
ANY drug can be a gateway drug.
[editline]08:14PM[/editline]
I love how I totally guessed what you googled: http://www.google.com/search?q=marijuana+is+not+a+gateway+drug&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a
First four results are what you posted. HAHAAHahaha.
The gateway drug theory is stupid. That's what Aaron's point is.

Exactly. We all know its the stupidest thing ever used by the government to inhibit legalization and spread propaganda. (Unless you're an idiot obviously Gerard)
The gateway drug theory is stupid. That's what Aaron's point is.
I don't think that is his point. He posted a bunch of links researching that theory. He posted links because obviously he has no knowledge of his own so he has to copy and paste.
I can say from experience that I started with marijuana and if I had never smoked weed I probably wouldn't be doing any other of the other drugs I do.

Maybe. Maybe not. I wouldn't have tried Mephedrone if I hadn't have tried Weed but Mephedrone is fucking legal and just as strong if not stronger than Cocaine.
It's a stupid theory because it doesn't make any difference if Weed is legal or illegal on taking dugs.
One of my friends took Mephedrone as his first drug just because of legality. Surely we want a world where the drugs we imply are safe ARE safer than the ones we imply are dangerous.

Do you see me just posting a bunch of links with research? No. I'm actually trying to argue what I think with my own words. Something you obviously are incapable of doing. Probably because of lack of experience with drugs and just pure stupidity.
I like how aaronn can't read.

What's your point?
Why are we even debating the Gateway drug theory? Everyone admits it's bollocks.
I agree that it is a stupid theory, I use that term because that's the best way to describe it as something that CAN lead to other drugs.
Do you see me just posting a bunch of links with research? No. I'm actually trying to argue what I think with my own words. Something you obviously are incapable of doing. Probably because of lack of experience with drugs and just pure stupidity.
:xd: Lol jesus man it's getting ridiculous how dumb you portray yourself. I posted them obviously because they support my idea. I've argued about this enough in other threads in GD with other 12 year old faggots such as yourself, enough that it gets a bit tiresome having to constantly inform you.
The theory is bust. It's just a tool used to slander Marijuana. ANYTHING can influence you one way or another. Demonizing cannabis is for idiots and fools who believe all the bullshit the government and dumb organizations like DARE spread.
Here, this is for you

It is a preety powerful hallucinogen if you smoke alot of it.
smoke 2x the ammount that you usally smoke and you will get a preety serious trip. I would not recommend it because it can become extremly intense.
