SALT LAKE CITY — Some disaffected Republicans and Democrats who say extreme views are co-opting their parties have decided to carve out a middle ground in Utah politics.
Taking a centrist approach, the group announced the formation of the United Utah Party at the state Capitol on Monday. Its logo is Utah's iconic Delicate Arch.
Good luck even with the system (even within extreme politically paranoiac reactionary society) can't make you win except for local elections.
It would have been better for them to collude in secret to pass voting reforms, then create the new party so people are actually able to vote for it.

Yea pretty much.
And since Maine's new voting reform law is seemly protected by State's Supreme Court. It would help getting state's Independents, Libertarian and Green (or Independent Greens) parties could win some near future state elections.
- Edit -
Damn say it too soon as today (May 24th) that Judicial court takes this traitorous reactionary by creed it's 'unconstitutional'.
i mean if theres any place it could work it'd be utah, though ask whatshisname how well third party worked out.
While I am skeptical of this, the atmosphere around the Salt Lake area since the election has been pretty different as of late. More people are starting to break away from the party lines, especially since the latest fuck up from our non-drinkers at the Department of Alcoholic Beverage control decided to lower the legal blood level for DUI to .05. Even my parents as hardcore republicans are sick of the current mud flinging many republicans here have resorted to. That and the fact that nearly everyone hated Trump during the primaries and then rolled over to show their belly once he started getting endorsed by Romney...

????
How have this anything related to alcohol and politics with this article?
And most of Salt Lake City population is still Mormon.
And most of Salt Lake City population is still Mormon.
While the majority of Utahans as a whole are Mormon , SLC itself has a lower percentage. Wikipedia says only 34%–41% are Mormon. That probably doesn't matter though, the capitol is there but I'd wager most of the state government is influenced by the state as a whole and less by the slightly more liberal capitol city.
2nd Revival of Nonpartisan League and Farmer Parties when?

I am saying its been a source of tension between the church republicans and the non church republicans in the area. Maybe I didn't make it too clear.
The main point is that this a sign that many people around here are sort of starting to break away from the party lines. Many Mormons I know personally actually voted democrat last year.
The DUI thing was something I threw out there because when it was announced my local 'ward' as they call it actually went to the capital to protest.
People stereotype Utah pretty hard and most of the time they are right, but Salt Lake is growing more and more progressive.
The problem with being a centrist is that neither side likes you :v:
Man I wish a new central party would come from the ashes of these past couple of years and win a few elections.
If something like that were to happen they would have to get a foothold in local elections and then rally really really hard with sensible ideas and likable people.
I find those circumstances very unlikely to appear.

I ve been involved in politics of minor parties. Centerism does not work. Eventually there a issue which no one budges on. This creates infighting, implosion and nothing getting done. If you really wanna fix things, you will need a new paradigm. You will need transcend the left vs right bullshit.
Right now I'm working with a group of creative folks trying do just that. I am however not sure what the mods think if I were to shill for support. We are doing ok without funding but of course money makes everything work better. Mods? What is your call on this? May I do a go fund me on this?
If you wanna help Artistically or contribute intellectually or wish to know more, please pm me.

Ok thanks to clear this up.
And good to know.
Good. Both parties have became so polarized over the past few years.
John Adams was right.

There is nothing I dread So much, as a Division of the Republick into two great Parties, each arranged under its Leader, and concerting Measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble Apprehension is to be dreaded as the greatest political Evil, under our Constitution.
I dont see things left vs right.
I see it in a more mutable and complex manner.
Ever seen game of thrones? Got two human factions fighting over the kingdom? Then there the night king looming and coming which dont see the factions as separate groups but as the same thing?
That the trick to ending polarization. Gotta find an target which redefines the dictomony. Do this and you flush out assholes, crooks and other shit flingers on both sides.
Ive mentioned my project. What it does is it takes various ideas from the left and sheds the economic reasoning. It replaces with psychology explanations.
Let take Marxism. What the end goal? A stateless and classless society. It views the way to accomplish this via economics. I disagree. To me the key to ending the state and such is elimination of patterns of emotional abuse in society and destruction of those who rely on cultic devices to become an oppressor.
It leads to the same ends. It leads to end of bigotry. It leads to end of exploitation. Just in a new way.
By taking the psychological route I redefine the dictomony. The current left and right is all about economics and political power. Materialism. My takes it from the view of state of mind. So with this it is now economic vs psychology.
My work on abusive language is just a start towards this. I trying get more produced. Basically the reason why we have a state is there are too many people who are abusive in society and as a result the collective is emotionally wounded. When a collective is emotionally wounded, they become more easier to exploit nd enslave. Healthy equals freedom.
Some may laugh but hey I dont see any you trying to come up with new angles. Both sides are pushing the same old tired ideas. Nothing fresh. These ideas are no longer working. Yet people keep pushing them expecting new results. What is the definition of insanity?
