I have to wonder the thought process of some electricians, like ofc you need GFCI in the bathroom but my parents house has GFCI outlets in the garage too. Also grandfathering in older wiring with no earth connection in some homes (hell even some apartments) is foolishly bad.
You americans are weird. Just put one GFCI into your breaker panel to protect every outlet in your home, instead of buying special outlets everytime you want to not kill people.

In the Land of the Free if you can't afford every individual safety feature for every part of your house then you're a governmental leech! You get cars for $5, the airbags cost $60,000 extra.

Grounded outlets have been the standard for over 40 years and a massive percentage of homes in the US still don't have them.
Aww, no toaster drop. Still, this is pretty science.

All I know about sockets and wiring is that my uncle demonstrating that we could plug 3-pronged devices into our ancient ~<40's~ house that only had 2-pronged outlets by simple taking pliers and snapping off the third prong was more than likely not a safe practice.

This is a fucking $60 breaker vs a $5 20A breaker and competent knowledge that you don't piss around with electricity. Honestly feels like manufacturers are heading the NEC revisions vs engineers at this point.
I have never seen a single house in new zealand that doesn't have earth on the power outlets. I've seen groundless appliances but groundless sockets? what the fuck?
