Suspected Russian cyber spy Guccifer 2.0 altered a DNC document before releasing it http://www.businessinsider.com/guccifer-2-0-dnc-document-russia-hillary-clinton-2017-11
The first document leaked by self-proclaimed hacker Guccifer 2.0 was edited to include the word "confidential," a former Democratic National Committee official told Business Insider on Friday. Guccifer 2.0 claimed responsibility for the DNC hack last June and said it had published some of the stolen documents on its WordPress site - but the first document the supposed hacker published actually came from the inbox of Hillary Clinton's campaign chairman, John Podesta. The former DNC official told Business Insider that the word "confidential" did not appear in the original document, titled "Donald Trump Report," that had been sent to Podesta. The word "confidential" also did not appear on the version published by WikiLeaks in October.

Upon downloading the full version of the document from Guccifer's website, however, the word "confidential" does not appear. That indicates that Guccifer altered the screenshots to make them more alluring when they were first published.
Incredibly worried that Russia could and can greatly influence their enemy's internal policy. In what world do we live in...
I feel like the headline is a little misleading. Adding a confidential watermark to screenshots of a document to get more attention is still bad, but I took this headline initially to mean that he had just fabricated or edited the actual substance of the document.

It will definitely be worth following this development further down the line and keeping an eye out for other potential instances of tampering, is what I think the point of the article's phrasing was.

As much as I agree that the Russian hacking is a bad thing overall, I don't think the DNC deserves to be let off the hook either.
