• The Australian Federal Election. Great Debate

So once again it's that time again. Australia has to choose a new Prime Minister. A shocking turn of events just a month ago saw Kevin Rudd out of position to be taken up by Julia Gillard. Depending on how this debate goes, she could have the shorted rein of Prime Minister ever. So to all the Australian facepunchers watching at the moment. What are your political views and how do you think tonight's debate will go? Julia or Tony. Who do you want running the country? Tony Abbot Julia Gillard
They both suck really.. But Labor sucks less. I preffered Rudd over Gillard though. [editline]06:19PM[/editline] Though the filter was a terrible idea.

Green's will never get in power (not enough voters, seriously it's just a Labor vs Liberal) and Green's give their vote to Labor.
Though the filter was a terrible idea.
The filter is a terrible idea. Its still going forward its just been postponed.
Green's will never get in power (not enough voters, seriously it's just a Labor vs Liberal) and Green's give their vote to Labor.
They're very popular in the marginal seats, I wont be surprised if they get the balance of power in the senate. They just dont have the numbers to contest every seat.
fair dinkum.
I'm not familiar with either candidate, as Australian political figures fall outside my area of interest. Banana hammocks, however, do not. My vote would go to Mr. Abbot based entirely on his choice of swimwear.
Gillard looks really badass in that photo
Sex Party ftw.
Amazingly they changed the time of this debate so they didn't have to change the final of Masterchef Australia. Apparently the fight between Adam and Callum is more important.
Green's will never get in power (not enough voters, seriously it's just a Labor vs Liberal) and Green's give their vote to Labor.
The whole point of voting Green's is to ensure that they hold the balance of power in the Senate, so if the government tries to get any bills through, they actually have to get the Greens alongside. That gives the Greens a shit load of influence and means that the Australian Government will be more open to environmental reform. Also they lend their preferences to whichever party gives an advantage, generally that's Labor though. Also Gillard has a bad dress sense, if she can't manage the shit in her warddrobe how is she meant to manage the shit in our country. AND Gillard used to be a member of the Communist party. No fucking joke. She's about as far left as a...turn left sign. Abbott isn't much better. I'll be voting Greens.
Also Gillard has a bad dress sense, if she can't manage the shit in her warddrobe how is she meant to manage the shit in our country.
from the kitchen I'd vote for anyone who dosen't want the filter put forward.
What i hate about the 'great debate' most is that goddamn worm. "hello, i am a big media channel, i am going to tell you what to think with a squiggly line"
I'm voting Labor, Its pretty much mandatory if you're in a union.
I'm voting apathy
The filter is a terrible idea. Its still going forward its just been postponed.
Really? I thought Gillard called the filter off? :frown:
Really? I thought Gillard called the filter off? :frown:
No such luck, a filter will go ahead if Labor wins.
Really? I thought Gillard called the filter off? :frown:
No, just postponed, still going forward. I highly doubt it will succeed though. They'd need the numbers in the Senate which I doubt they'd get Guys, make your true decision in the senate if you're smart, for lower house vote the person that will make your seat more marginal, more marginal seats get more funding
Gillard: We will make Australia great and blah blah blah Abbott: LABOR PUPPET SHOW BLAH BLAH BLAH
Gillard: We will make Australia great and blah blah blah Abbott: LABOR PUPPET SHOW BLAH BLAH BLAH
Gillard: We can move forward Together we will move forward Moving forward together Moving forward for Australia It's about moving foward... etc.
I prefer Labor over Liberals but they've bumbled a lot of things up and they know it for me to really like them. I wonder who would lead the country if Independants came into power.
Gillard: We can move forward Together we will move forward Moving forward together Moving forward for Australia It's about moving foward... etc.
Moeving Orstralia forwerd vs. Fair dinkum policies [editline]07:42PM[/editline] Although honestly I think Labor will win, Liberals is just the worst of two poisons [editline]07:44PM[/editline] And all the other Australian Facepunchers here have migrated to Masterchef haven't they

Procreate and Populate parts FTW!
most likely voting labor. there is almost no chance i would vote for a party represented by some religious dickhead like abbot. sadly, my seat is a safe liberal seat.
I'm voting Labor, Its pretty much mandatory if you're in a union.
haha, what? you mean it's pretty much mandatory if you want to be in a union.
Oh and I must say Gillard is an excellent question dodger
