I'm just going link this guy because he says how moronic this is far more eloquently than I could.

For the people who disagree with Thunder, why is it 'rape apologist' to suggest precautions? I mean, I'm genuinely asking this, I'm not trying to take the piss out of anyone. I don't understand the logic at all.

That was awful. He completely ignored TF's points.

you know how rapists are universally kind of crazy?
well i kind of doubt that wearing a slightly less skimpy dress is really going to affect that

"My wife mentioned a simple example to me: she’d never walk into a parking garage alone late at night. And that’s a reasonable precaution she takes all the time. But think about it: if men had special reason to fear the security at a particular parking area, we’d be demanding more police patrols, greater video surveillance, that steps be taken to reduce the danger. But women? Heck, that’s just a consequence of their being the “weaker sex”, they need to adapt to deal with it."
How is this relevant to Thunderfoot's video?

Or lustful assholes. He's not saying "wear a burqa" but not wearing skimpy cloths in the red light district is a good idea.
The doctor advocating for drinking wine is not advocating for alcoholism.
Another nail in the coffin for mainstream Tumblr Feminism™

Because he's stating the kind of double standard TF advocates.
oh god this guy is french i'm ashamed of my own country too much right now
It's okay Max, we're all ashamed of your country

um i think you may have missed my point. if they're willing to rape someone just for sex (not actually why people commit rape btw) then i kind of doubt your choice in clothing will matter. i mean, do you seriously think a burqa would actually stop them? no of course not (or at least i sincerely hope so), so why the fuck would anything else
So the feminist argument is "teach them not to rape"? How exactly is that going to happen?
Another nail in the coffin for mainstream Tumblr Feminism™
more like "another video mainstream Tumblr Feminism™ will not understand and shit on"
Throughout both videos he's repeatedly stating relaly simple to understand things which are nothing but common sense, yet everyone shitting on the videos seem completely unable to comprehend them.
why should i wear a stab proof vest when patrolling scummy estates or neighborhoods as a police officer? teach the criminals not to stab me!

if more people were aware of what consent really is then we'd see less rape
a lot of youth and young adults don't actually fully understand consent
So the feminist argument is "teach them not to rape"? How exactly is that going to happen?
there are far too many people that would have sex with an intoxicated person. this number needs to be brought down, and the best way to do that is to teach them about the line between sex and rape - the only thing separating you from having sex with someone who can't properly consent is how much you know about the concept of consent.
For the people who disagree with Thunder, why is it 'rape apologist' to suggest precautions? I mean, I'm genuinely asking this, I'm not trying to take the piss out of anyone. I don't understand the logic at all.
Because
1) precautions won't do diddly squat to affect the likelihood of it happening, because ultimately, whether or not the rape happens is up to... the rapist! not the victim! isn't that basic common logic?
2) when you start spreading the idea that it's up to the victim to take precautions, it's just gonna increase the already-existing victim blaming which is "but why didn't you take precautions?" "why did you do X?" "why did you do Y?"

Are you telling me that a woman who is too intoxicated to stand up can't properly consent?
Wow how's your blue pill taste you perma-virgin mangina
for a guy who prides himself on logic & reason & rational thinking, this video is missing so much of it that it actually got me to record a little rant. gonna put it up soon

Make sure you leave comments and ratings public :D
Make sure you leave comments and ratings public :D
Why the fuck would you do that on YouTube? The comments are bad when it's video games - why would you want to see the MRA brigade?
my question is, why would he make a video like that about rape to begin with. Any normal person knows it is pretty much asking for trouble. I really don't get it, there seems to be no reason about why he did it. Not saying it should be an issue to avoid or talk about, but he could have discussed something better.
you know how rapists are universally kind of crazy?
well i kind of doubt that wearing a slightly less skimpy dress is really going to affect that
Which is the whole point for christ's sake? It doesn't automatically make you immune in any way to rape. But it might help. So willfully ignoring precautions, much less denying the suggestion as "rape apology" is fucking stupid. Which is the point of both videos.
And plus it's not really about skimpy dress. Which, again, was adressed in the video... good job not watching it.
The way of thinking is that, if you are treating rape as an inevitable fact of life by talking about avoiding it, then you are condemning women to it. If you imply that it is an inevitable part of being a woman, and that it is the woman's responsibility not to get raped, than those who are raped didn't do enough to prevent it, and therefore deserve it.
The false logic here is blaming the victim at all, which is what rape avoidance campaigns do. We need to crack down on actual rapists through concent programs (since a lot of them do the even get they are doing anything bad since our society encourages rape) and through harsher punishments for proven rapists. Basically we need to treat rape like any other crime, as something we hope to eliminate entirely, not just prevent as if it's a natural part of the world.

Well Tumblr feminists could've found something better to do than being a blob of hot gas, but...
What kind of question is that? Like, seriously?

Crime fucking is natural part of the society. Like it or not, but there's no way to stop crime from happening at all. If you think there is, you're daydreaming at best. All society can do is fight it where it happens, and draw the risk to a minimum where it can. Punish, avoid and prevent, everything else is impossible: it's no matter where you can dream of better world, it's a serious stuff that requires realistic view of the world.
