After ignoring a copy of the partially leaked code for several years, the company recently asked GitHub to take an unauthorized copy offline, with success. In February 2004 large portions of Microsoft’s Windows 2000 and Windows NT 4.0 source code leaked onto the Internet. In a statement issued at the time, Microsoft said the breach didn’t come from inside. The company worked closely with the FBI to track down the source but these efforts were fruitless.[/quote]
If they wont let you have 20 year old outdated and obsolete code what makes you think they will let you have 1 year old code with win10?
That's because they don't want us to realise that NT and 10 basically share the same source code :v: But really though, the code to any product is a major company asset and I'm not surprised they decided to pursue this now. The age doesn't make much different if it's still valuable to the company. There's likely other factors at play here too. Remember Microsoft does license code from other companies for some features so they may have realised this was included in the leak and had to get it taken down.
I think that lots and lots of really old machines that are not in the home computing sector also still run kernels based on this shit. From prodction plants to bureaus.
