• Israel approves nearly 300 more settler homes as compensation for illegal Israeli squatters
Israel has approved the construction of nearly 300 new Jewish settler homes in Beit El in the occupied West Bank. The decision is likely to raise tensions as Washington tries to restart peace talks with the Palestinians. Two days ago reports said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had ordered an unofficial freeze on new plans and tenders for building settlements. Direct talks with the Palestinians stalled in 2010 following a dispute over settlements. All settlements in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, are considered illegal under international law, although Israel disputes this. The Civil Administration said the new homes were intended as compensation after the Israeli government evicted 30 settler families from Ulpana last June. The unauthorised outpost on the outskirts of Beit El was declared illegal under Israeli law by the High Court because it was built on privately-owned Palestinian land
Source A bunch of settlers decided to build homes in privately-owned Palestinian land even without Israeli approval. Israel says that's not allowed, and then decides to compensate the illegal occupants with (and still illegal under international) settlements in the West Bank. Israeli settlements aren't build on empty Palestinian land. Meanwhile, Israel continues to evict Palestinians from homes they lived in before Israel even existed with no compensation so Jewish settlers can move in.
Damn it Starpluck I'm already posting in two of these threads show some courtesy Anyway this is a disgrace, the settler movement is a bald-faced attempt to undermine a future Palestinian state and a constant baiting of terrorist attacks. It's inexcusable, probably the single biggest obstacle to peace right now.
Good that they evicted the settlers in the first place, Bad that their solution was to settle them somewhere else in the West Bank.
It was only a few days ago that Netanyahu announced a settlement freeze as well, that was short.
They will never stop whatever anyone does Ever

Someone should finally make them stop. I mean, seriously. Why the fuck can they get away with being pretty much some of the biggest twats on this planet? Of course, the Palestinians made their mistakes as well and sure, nobody would like to see more violence. But then again, what gives them the right to pretty much kick the Palestinians around?
Fuck off israel nobody likes you.

That's what it boils down to, they have de facto veto power in the UN by virtue of our unwavering support and they feel that gives them the right to evict Palestinians, bulldoze their homes, and move Jewish families in. The Israeli government is probably hoping for Palestinians to start launching attacks so they have a clean excuse to just go in and exterminate everyone.

As hawkish as the Israeli electorate can be, most of them would be pretty incensed by something like that.
