I'm turning 17 in November. I'm currently on my permit in a 2011 Sonata, and want either a 4th gen 3.8 L or a 3rd gen 5.0 L , i don't know that gas would be that bad based on what i read on the government fuel economy website. A trip i do frequently is go from new jersey to upstate NY (about 225 miles) round trip. This would cost 27$ in the camaro. It costs 60$ to fill the sonata at the current gas price, and we use ~1/2 tank of gas. So about 20-30$ depending on the price of gas and if i get on it on the highway at all. My other concern was insurance. Hagerty gave me a quote of 456$ a year with all liabilities and collision on my own plan @ 17. Where as I know on my moms plan in a car of any displacement I'd probably get rammed in the ass by the insurance company. I'm still learning about all this so forgive me if I'm talking out of my ass. I can probably afford to spend 6-7,000$ based on the money I'm saving. What would you do FP?
i drive the 5.0l mustang and they charge me the same insurance as my 53 year old mother with a 2.5l scion :v: amica or some shit
If I were you, I would go for the Camaro. I would like to have that car so much, but I live in Holland, and they don't sell camaro's here:(
also get the v8 everyone will make fun of you if you get a v6 camaro [editline]20th April 2011[/editline] it's not even a camaro at that point
the V6 ones for 4th gen i'de consider. they could be made into a respectable car with some cam and valve train work, air cleaner, etc. i wouldn't fathom a 3rd gen V6. it's a 2.7 or something ridiculous lololol.
2001 or whatever gen that is ls1 z28. only camaro you wont get ripped on for owning. scratch that, you'll get called a redneck for sure.
just leave a fair bit of money for repairs because maros aren't the most gently treated cars in the world nor the best built
