[hd]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyyJEzZq3sQ[/hd] Looks impressive. I love the character's momentum, and interaction with the environment. Visually impressive, and the sound design is nice. My concern with this game, however, is what the end game is going to be like. We've seen a lot of shoot-n-loot, which is fine for the gameplay, but I wonder what'll keep people playing once you get to the "top." I also hope they're going to provide an incentive for some cooperation between players, and it won't turn into purely PvP. I'll remain optimistic, though; the devs seem to have a very good sense of direction that they want to take this game.
Shit i really want this game to be good
now I wish this was S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2; looks like it'll be a fun game
I think this game can be good but I do worry that it might just devolve into no cooperation and maximum PVP. Looks like it has good exploration and gun-play though.

Apparently if you become too bloodthirsty, in-game traders and settlements will start turning you away, and you're eventually supposed to make an uneasy alliance with your opposing faction aswell. Regardless, the devs stated that the game is mainly based around cooperative PvE gameplay, with PvP being a sort of side activity rather than the main draw.

Instead of everyone focused on the Dark Zone PvP area people will be busy PvE'ing
This player makes strange choices. At about the 21 minute mark when he's at the gas station, I would have gotten in closer and thrown a grenade inside instead of just taking shots at the blob moving inside.

I don't get it? Why does your character in the game have to shout automatically like that? Kinda blows your cover in a way.
for a game trying to be ultra realistic it sure doesnt make any sense having to shoot a guy almost 10 times to bring him down aside from that if they dont have region based servers this game is going to be a shitfest full of russians who instantly ruin any multiplayer game they frequent, just from the comment section alone you can already see the type of people that are going to be playing this. "picking up shit is too slow" "this is broing" "why isnt it more like dayz" "add a health bar" jfc
This looks great. Will there be vehicles?
every time he went into a building i expected him to get chased by a bloodsucker.
for a game trying to be ultra realistic it sure doesnt make any sense having to shoot a guy almost 10 times to bring him down
I think he just misses most his shots, the bullets go where the gun sways as there's no "bullet spread", just recoil and sway.
for a game trying to be ultra realistic it sure doesnt make any sense having to shoot a guy almost 10 times to bring him down
have fun getting one shot from some douche nozzle hiding in a bush rather than having the option to fight back
This looks great. Will there be vehicles?
Not a priority but they say the it may be in the future.
I don't get it? Why does your character in the game have to shout automatically like that? Kinda blows your cover in a way.
This will be optional.
have fun getting one shot from some douche nozzle hiding in a bush rather than having the option to fight back
Or prepare your journey and advance tactically as a logical person would do in a game such as this. Don't wander into open areas and use no roads.
I don't get it? Why does your character in the game have to shout automatically like that? Kinda blows your cover in a way.
The question about the "Automatic shouting" was answered during the developer stream, in the internal testing version the character is screaming all the time while in the actual game you waill have to press 'Y' button for a character to comment on the current situation, like spotting an enemy or a comment about surroundings. I have translated the FAQ from the stream, it can be found here: https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1499319&page=3
have fun getting one shot from some douche nozzle hiding in a bush rather than having the option to fight back
if thats what you define as fighting back then maybe more streamlined games would be right up your ally the game brands itself as being ultra realistic survival and it should stick to that, across all aspects including health. it makes it more endangering and on the edge which is what will set it apart from other games of the same genre - a combination of realistic survival mechanics, and a decent engine that supports fluid and polished gameplay. if they decide to just buckle to the demands of tards who want open-world call of duty then theyre just going to end up with a failed product with no sense of direction like all other "realistic survival" games (read: dayz, h1z1, etc.) that have some of the worst communities imaginable the harder it is to survive the less people will be inclined to turn it into an all out deathmatch
have fun getting one shot from some douche nozzle hiding in a bush rather than having the option to fight back
see you're saying this like its a bad thing but it is actually a very good thing

Have they changed their stance on locking the FOV to 70?
Swap around the mechanics of The Division then? Instead of everyone focused on the Dark Zone PvP area people will be busy PvE'ing
The bandits are basically a short-life loot gamble designed to support your main character, you're incentivized to go out and be as dirty a killer as possible, and then try to stash the loot you get for your main character. The game does have instanced coop raids though, with the open-world PvP segment being seperate.
Have they changed their stance on locking the FOV to 70? [t]http://i.imgur.com/CAOtTBZ.png[/t]
this is silly to say considering you could have the weapon's FOV be locked and the world FOV not, like what most games do. as for saying it gives an advantage, the same could be said about any game option really. wouldn't that mode of thinking make a screen brightness option unfair? [editline]26th May 2016[/editline] plus you could've always produced the game for a larger FOV that is functional for players at a PC, which more than likely is who this game is targeted for, instead of 70 FOV that only works for players sitting on a couch or away from the screen.
I hope i don't have to tell you that players with larger FOV have an advantage here.
whenever a dev says this i just want to rip out my hair
they explained that even if only world fov would be locked it would still be a big hit to performance to an already demanding game why is fov such a big deal anyway
Coming from someone who's making a game and played many games with the FOV locked, I can say it's a bullheaded opinion not to allow your players to play the game the way they want to play it, or the way they feel comfortable playing it. it mostly comes down to motion sickness. you know how some games have sliders to adjust movement of the camera due to "camera bob"? or how some games let you change the color of objectives to help with color blindness? or even with the screen brightness example. it's all the same concept. it's all about allowing players to feel comfortable in your game, or else they're gonna get pulled out of it immensely due to one thing or another. because screens are terrible for your eyes, sitting in chairs for hours is terrible for your back, and using a keyboard or joystick for an elongated period of time is terrible on your wrists and arms, so making sure that players can play games like this comfortably, where they sometimes will be playing for hours, is important. so it is a big deal to a lot of people. also on the performance factor, that is immediately negated with a good options menu. you can then have the option to balance between graphics and comfort, which is only limited by your GPU. giving players the tools to optimize the game, and then limiting them makes no sense, especially if you trump it up to performance, which honestly tells me your game is optimized poorly and you should rethink how you're designing it on a technical level.
That guy at 06:20 should've been dead. Why can't games ever do shotguns right?
The wandering around looks kinda relaxing actually. But I imagine the real game is not going to be anything like that with shitters constantly trying to shoot you and steal your beans.
now I wish this was S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2; looks like it'll be a fun game
This game is basically begging to get stalker modded. If anything it could have been a rather cool reveal after the alpha as a surprise sort of thing. "This game was STALKER 2 ALL ALONG"
I really do hope the bullet sponges in the video were just unlucky scenarios. Having excessive gun porn but having everyone as a bullet sponge is beyond frustrating.
