those weren't too popular tbh
they fucked up custom games
With the little amount of effort put into that gamemode, I'm surprised it wasn't released on launch.

Why they look awesome?
Why they look awesome?
I didn't even know they were supposed to be spartenfied flood, that's how jarring the art style has become since the original series.
Why they look awesome?
Because they don't look like Flood at all. I hated that look.

That said, was infected not in the game from the start? What?
I didn't even know they were supposed to be spartenfied flood, that's how jarring the art style has become since the original series.
Yeah, I didn't care about the style change. I mean i just saw it as something you see pretty often sometimes they will suddenly change a game into something else.
But it was already kinda of there as Reach is a good example.

You must really hate those pure forms in halo 3 then, they don't look anything like flood.

No, they did. They had all the things that the flood had. The same weird red-tipped sensory tentacle things, the whip-like appendages, and the ranged ones weird rear-end that they shoot from has a similar shape and structure to the little infectors, and I'd argue the tanky ones share some similarities with the Gravemind. The only difference is that they lacked a host, and that makes perfect sense in that case because they're pure forms.
The spartan ones don't have anything like that in common. They're the only flood forms with crab claws instead of whips, the bulbous fleshy infected mass is gone and replaced with chitinous plating, and all other infected forms have their host's vestigial heads pushed away to make room for the flood's new sensory organs, but the spartan's heads are still intact and they don't have the sensory tentacles at all. Design-wise hey share pretty much nothing in common beyond being infected by some kind of parasite.
The original Flood are grotesque, deformed, and painful looking. They appropriately look like a parasitic organism has literally grown out from inside of them. The Halo 4 flood look they have Halloween masks on.

Just to reinforce the point.

It's somthing growing out from within the host, not changing the host.

To be fair, there are different types of flood.
For all we know theses guys could of been infected by spores as its mention a lot in the halo series and even some of the mini series and books.

All the infected forms we see in the series (with the exception of 4's) all have the same identifying features across Humans, Elites, and Brutes, as well as the carrier and pure forms. I doubt a genetically modified human being infected would produce results that were unseen in other humans, nevermind unseen across multiple species.

Anyhow. In books and such it basically only takes spores and even just a bite in some cases to transmit the things required to begin converting you to a flood.
Anyhow. In books and such it basically only takes spores and even just a bite in some cases to transmit the things required to begin converting you to a flood.
You're not wrong, but what the hell does that have to do with anything?

I don't think that'd cause them to look much different if at all. It's the same organism regardless of how it's transmitted.

i fucking shit myself i didn't realise clicking on a transparent image resulted in it enlarging without the background :v:
Why they look awesome?
I agree, but most don't. Also, because of the fact that infection requires those flood models, all the infection based non-zombies custom games were now impossible. In case you didn't know, that's almost fucking all of them.
I remember it was a very simple gamemode in Halo 3, spent shitloads of hours in it though, there was this level in Foundry which resembles a house and it actually got very exciting.
Halo Reach and Halo 4 infected mode was terrible. They removed a lot of useful settings that prevented well made gamemodes like in Halo 3.
despite the flood spartans not looking good, it's still way more effort than just green armor, and I can appreciate that
Just do what "Halo 2: Anniversary" did:
