Attention Women of Facepunch. Female Voice Actor for GlaDOS TTS Wanted. - General

Hello Women of Facepunch, Today I have a weird request. So, I am developing a new text to speech for Portal's GlaDOS, as the only competitor has been offline for a while and honestly didn't sound like GlaDOS. Normally I might do the TTS voicing myself, but I am a guy. It is very obvious that my voice in not feminine as hard as I might try. Even the communities' current fan voice actor for GlaDOS, is obviously male, and therefore the recordings don't sound quite right. Ellen McLain, the voice actor for GlaDOS and the AI in Pacific Rim, has a very hard to repeat style and timbre. Therefore it is very difficult to synthesize. I however have a dedicated server hooked up with a Neural Network, some special code, and a copy of Melodyne. If anyone in the community has a feminine alto voice with an American accent, and has maybe a couple hours they could spend recording samples one afternoon, just PM me on Facepunch. I once saw someone do some audio magic to make a generic female voice sound like Glados. If I knew how to do that I'd be recording random shit day and night. Good luck finding someone though! A Glados TTS sounds AWESOME.

You could technically use MorphVOX to create your own female voice (you gotta talk really strange and without bass to make it work though)

You just have to pronounce several sounds into a microphone. All it requires is a good voice and mic. It's time consuming, and definitely deserving of payment though, I just don't see where the art and talent part comes in.

I wasn't going to charge for the api, so I wasn't going to pay actors. But then once some people came forward, I liked the quality of them not wanting to be payed. But then I considered paying them (intended 60%) for showing interest, so I would have to charge for the api. I wasn't originally going to charge as I already have a server running, and already pay for utilities. Then I realized this is Facepunch, and not everyone is great company.

As someone who creates (i.e. any artist, actor, or musician), a grand total of no one except vulnerable teenagers are going to work for someone with 0 credibility who is offering exposure. If you go into a job offer treating it like the "exposure" is something worth coveting while also playing it down to be just a TTS application, then you're already screwing yourself over. Incentive and pay is important for anyone who uses their talent to generate income and if they're already generating income from said talent, then why would they offer you a service for free? It's good that you're paying now, but you're not even talking about a pay rate, and not paying up front either. Jobs like these need an upfront lump sum of payment or a pay rate per word/sentence/phrase/etc. Can't say "I promise you'll be paid with the sales" and not be sure if you'll even have any sales. Nobody here was out of line when asking you to revise your job offer. It's something you have to learn if you're trying to create anything off the back of someone who can do something that you can't. Anyway, I'm not a voice actor and probably wouldn't make a very good Glados so I can't help you there, but at least consider editing your initial proposal to be more realistic.

Are you relying on the person to set the rate per request or are you going to? Are they getting paid before or after the application is complete? How does time factor in to it? Understand my software and hardware limits. Then I'll judge accordingly what the character limit on the requests will be and the rate limit. The fact being that I never ORIGINALLY intended on charging or paying, I have no opinion on the subject at this time. Plus I've asked PelPix and I'm going to see if they will do it.
