I really think this show sums up my personal philosophy on life so far from my own observations, and this video shows why. If your depressed, or confused about what you are doing in life, watch this video.

So live a little.
Watching this show while tripping is a transcendental experience. I couldn't recommend it enough.
You know, with all the attention Rick and Morty gets i often ask if people are just thinking "deep" about it just because its popular, bit of the same way how people over-analyze My Little Pony and how incredibly good it would explain hard situations and what friendship really means, i have seen my fair share of cartoons and i often agree that shows like Rick and Morty, Futurama, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Samurai Jack and Avatar The Last Airbender are just really well written with a lot of characters and episode carrying some kind of situation with it like depression, love, complications and such. The difference between all these shows and this one is that Rick and Morty is still in production which is awesome (and Samurai Jack is getting a reboot). Oh and i will leave this here

When I'm not thinking about video games, cartoons, art, and family, I constantly think about this kind of stuff. I actually wrote a paper on this topic last year for a final exam. Here's a small excerpt from my paper, if you're interested:
Pretty much every night when I go to bed, I always think about my death. I always think about what would happen to what makes me "me" when I die, because I my biggest fear isn't death, my biggest fear is not existing. After a while of thinking about my existence, I came to a conclusion. Life is a miserable concept. When you are born, you live solely on instinct. You only think about sustenance and how you will keep yourself alive. It is a natural occurring trend within nature. But we, as sentient beings, soon looked beyond this and created a concept called sentiment. We don’t live for the sake of survival, but rather for the things that bring us purpose. We try desperately to find answers to why we exist in an endless void of darkness but ultimately fail. That is why we created faith, but no matter how you look at, we all follow the same destiny. Our lives will end with questions looming over us in which we are unable to answer. This is why life is miserable. Whether the universe has a creator or not, and no matter their intentions, we are decider of our lives, and whatever plans this creator has for us in death, we must not be scared for when the time comes. Life is miserable, so make due with what you have and just live. Do what you love.
I usually can get a good message from shows like this, futurama, etcetc If you actually pay attention to south park for example, at least earlier episodes, it's actually a pretty intelligent and mature show. It isn't ~deep~ or anything like that but it's actually pretty reasonable and makes some good points on a lot of things. It's gone away from that recently but I've not watched it in a while, but it seems to just be dumb but, funny jokes now.

It was my favorite joke in the episode, and it was only a small reference to "Uncle Tom's Cabin" and all that. Its not highbrow humor, by any means, but most of the jokes are there to advance the plot or message of the episode. Hell, the whole "Cartoon Wars" thing with Family Guy (S11 iirc, a while ago) was all about shows that are too lazy to tie their humor and plotlines together.[/sp]
I highly recommend this kind of thinking. I'm hugely into Absurdism these days and my life is just so much "easier". People constantly question if they are living the right way but generally they are just following the exact path of people before them, which i find ridiculous. Go to school, go to college, get a job, work 10 years, get promoted, meet a partner, get married, have kids and then just keep working till you retire and die. I encourage you guys to start accepting that doing things out of the ordinary is completely okay and it doesn't matter if people say "that's so weird", it just means you had the courage to step off of the path that the majority of people couldn't. Short story. Last night I flew home and walked about half hour nearly all the way home, some random girls started calling out to me from an uber and wanted some of my food I was eating, I just thought it'd be funny to agree to it. Then they said "you're cool come with us". Obviously expecting me to say no and just go as I had my bag with me and everything. But I got in the car, went further away than where I had walked from to get home and had a great night. I met a bunch of new people and ended up getting lucky with one of the girls. The surprising thing was the entire time people were saying "That's so weird you got into the car with them". No one was negative about it though. They just couldn't have done it themselves because society would've said "DONT DO IT!". Stories a bit of a mess but I wanted to give an example of something that happened due to just embracing the absurd.
This really makes (rick and morty spoilers) [sp]the ending of the most recent season really sad for rick, and everyone else too really[/sp]
This really makes (rick and morty spoilers) [sp]the ending of the most recent season really sad for rick, and everyone else too really[/sp]
While rick treats jerry like shit (I guess mostly for being useless), I feel like jerry wouldn't resent rick so much if he actually knew the shit he went through and how he'd readily and repeatedly sacrifice his own life for his grandkids.
This made me want the 3rd Season even more

Unfortunately i wouldn't do that, not because of society or my parents told me not to but because where i live is kinda dangerous and there are a lot of bad people in this world. However i respect what you did and also your way of thinking.
I thought I already watched a video like this, here's the one I was thinking about.
This thought works for some people, not for others. For instance, his last line would resonate pretty strongly with some people who are without friends and close family.
This thought works for some people, not for others. Isn't the Rick we know the only Rick that have a sincere love for his Morty compared to the other Ricks?
i don't need meaning in life all i need is video games
This type of thinking always makes me wonder which would be worse, knowing you don't exist for any purpose or knowing you do exist for a reason but you already failed your purpose.
This type of thinking always makes me wonder which would be worse, knowing you don't exist for any purpose or knowing you do exist for a reason but you already failed your purpose.
Both ok - you can give yourself a new purpose anytime. Humans are adaptable like that. Unless of course you're a steam engine on the Island of Sodor. Then you're kinda fucked.
