I have the same card. I use a custom fan curve that doesn't let it get above 80C. At full load the fan is often at 85% at which point headphones are a necessity.

Well I actually lied, I've got the XFX version with the custom cooler and even at 100% speed its quiet as fuck and never goes over 75c.
I just like to make fun of the reference cooler whenever I can because it is a literal leaf blower. :v:

are AMD GPU stock coolers actually any good because I always found it weird how they refuse to use a normal fan setup

Yep, just loud as fuck normally, the latest ones which they introduced with the R9 Nano and Fury are actually really good but thats more due to the fact the newer AMD cards shit out far less heat than they used to.

It only goes to 50% on the stock fan curve, to get higher you have to do it manually and it does absolutely nothing for cooling, airs moving too fast to transfer heat. :v:

i just find it hard to believe that an enclosed single fan is as good as the open double/triple fan setups that comes stock with other manufacturers

Oh yeah I didn't mean that in a condescending way, the OG Xbox was a fucking beast when it first came out, essentially a typical mid-high end gaming PC in a small and affordable package, sort of like the Scorpio/X today if had an R5 1500X or something instead of the ridicolously weak processor it's stuck with.
I just remember me and my brother being really excited for Halo, only for Microsoft to appear out of nowhere and go "actually, we just bought the entire project and you'll only be able to play it on our console now, see ya :)"
