The film is an adaptation of the Book of Exodus and follows the life of Moses from being a prince of Egypt to his ultimate destiny to lead the Hebrew slaves out of Egypt. The film was directed by Brenda Chapman, Simon Wells and Steve Hickner. The film featured songs written by Stephen Schwartz and a score composed by Hans Zimmer. The voice cast featured a number of major Hollywood actors in the speaking roles, while professional singers replaced them for the songs. The exceptions were Michelle Pfeiffer, Ralph Fiennes, Ofra Haza, Steve Martin, and Martin Short, who sang their own parts.
I remember watching this film as a kid and I was freakin' blasted away at the effects, especially to know that they were capable of doing those things back then. What's sad is that Dreamworks has come down to this. I don't really remember much when I was 5 or 6, but it was a good movie.
I remember watching the kid, loving it. Watched it a few months back, loved it but I skipped the musical moments. I just hate musicals nowadays. Still a fantastic movie though.
Love this film. It's one of the few great kids films outside of Disney.
It was amazing and I have to say I agree with Nostalgia Critic about it.
For some reason, I never really liked this movie as a child, but today I have a different opinion. I think it tells the story of Moses very well for kids
We used to watch this several times in school when I was much younger.
Watched this when I was a kid. As my family was not religious and hadn't taught me any of this stuff I did not understand a lot of it. Still enjoyed it though.
Oh god the memories. I wasn't religious either, and I probably forgot the bulk of the story, but it was an inspirational and memorable piece of work.
For some reason, when I was a kid, this was the best fricking movie I had ever seen. Glad I'm not the only one who saw it!
They show this movie every Christmas in Finland
Shit, this brings back memories. Used to watch it a lot when I was a wee lad.
I loved the scene were they were racing with the horses

I don't think really I really "got it". Or my attention span was too short. Now, watching it again, its pretty good.
I've never seen this movie nor do I have any intentions of seeing it
Such a cool scene, the music was done by Hans Zimmer as well:
I always liked this movie, I never really realized how religious it was, though.
I always thought it was a really cool movie even though I'm not really all that religious.
LET MY PEOPLE GO, LEEEEEET MY PEOPLE GO! Fucking hell I gotta see this movie again.
-snip- Thought of the wrong movie.
Holy fuck, I remember this movie. It was awesome. It was the only movie they showed at church on a specific movie night when I used to go to church.
I watched this in history class for some reason. It was... entertaining.
I think this movie may have been the reason I didn't take Christianity seriously when I was a little kid. Because it was a cartoon I thought it was just as serious as Beauty and the Beast or The Little Mermaid. [editline]11th May 2011[/editline] It's a pretty good movie.
