This guy does great videos
Glad to see them so happy and emotional. If it were my fucking family, they'd most likely ask if she can wait while they go grab 40 of the most expensive shit there is or a tv if they have any
Touches me when I see stuff like this, At one point when my father left we were literally eating rice and beans and skipping means in the house. Whenever I see someone struggling at the register paying for food I offer to cover all of it or most of it now when I can. It just bothers me seeing other people in a position that I know I was in not too long ago and If I can, I help.
People being happy for free stuff? Who would've thought!
I may just be your typical cynical Dane, but Oprah Winfrey and stuff like this always make me want to puke. It's emotional porn, and I even though I know they mean well, I just hate it. I mean, if you really want to do something good, just go refund them afterwards without making a huge spectacle of it.

If you hate the fact people are getting attention for doing nice things your an ass in my opinion. ------------------------------------------------ Edit: When I first came into this thread i was half expecting a guy to walk up to people right after they paid for the stuff and ask if they can buy it from them as they have everything they went in for.

Like that kid who bought all that stuff for a homeless man, I cannot remember his name, he also pranked his mom saying he had a drug addiction on Aprils Fools Day. It isn't all bad this show off though, it does raise awareness I guess.
I've noticed there's a lot of people who try to shame people who brag about doing good stuff. What's up with that? If you did something good and all you do is some brag, I say that's a win win for both parties involved. If all it takes for more good deeds is a few views on the internet, we should encourage this more.

If all it takes for more good deeds is a few views on the internet, we should encourage this more.
I can't really put it into words myself, but this guy Jesus actually put it rather well:
8 “When someone invites you to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, for a person more distinguished than you may have been invited. 9 If so, the host who invited both of you will come and say to you, ‘Give this person your seat.’ Then, humiliated, you will have to take the least important place. 10 But when you are invited, take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, ‘Friend, move up to a better place.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all the other guests. 11 For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
Now, I'm not a Christian (I'm currently reading The New Testament, though, since it's basically the most important text in European culture), but Christianity is still deeply ingrained in European (and Danish) culture, so I think it explains quite well why we dislike this kind of stuff (not because people are that religious now, but rather because we've been historically). I also think it has something to do with the fact that Danes find emotions, faith and a lot of stuff strictly private matters, and seeing outbursts of either is very awkward to us, whereas stuff like that is simply more commonplace in US media and so on. And lastly, I think charity is more commonplace in the US, because of the "community" phenomena - everyone helps each other and so on, going all the way back to the immigration to the useful and the final frontier stuff. Or maybe we just hate this kind of stuff, I wouldn't know.
bragging is still a bad thing to do
It's not. At least not when you brag about good deeds. Bragging for good deeds should be encouraged because your motives are not malicious(bragging is not harmful) and the person you did good to was done good to obviously. Instead of popularizing crap like popstars and stuff, we should popularize people who brag about doing good. I'd rather live in a world where we can reward people with tiny bit of fame for good deeds rather than a world where no one does good.

It simply cheapens it. Doesn't make the act bad, but bragging is definitely a bad thing.
