Our cats would do that in the summer when they got hungry. It took a water sprayer and some patience and they stopped ruining the mosquito nets.
This happend to me before it was with a stray cat that always hung around our house, and had figured out to find out if we were there. She would climb our screen door all the way to the top and look through the small glass windows on the top of our front door, and would just meow until someone came to the door.
