I just bought Maya 2011, with the hopes of making models of cars. However, i have no modeling skills. I could have googled for tutorials, but i rather have a person help me, if i dont understand a step. First, i need to be taught how to set up a blueprint. Second, i need to be taught how to sculpt. I will try on my own from there. Thank you to anyone who helps.
To set up blueprints, off to google. It has great BP setup tutorials.
Sculpt? I am not sure if it can even do that. If it can, then only some low level sculpting. Why would you sculpt while making a car?

Fine body lines. I want to have the basic shape of the new camaro, but the rest be my imagination.

Before trying to modeling from imagination, start small, try to make a replica, you will learn a lot, then you can do whatever you want.
Starting modeling with a car is a challenge I must warn you. There are some tutorials on the net, but in my opinion you should start smaller. It can be pretty tough and you may lose motivation to continue learning.
3DBuzz has excellent Maya video tutorials, I learned the basics in just a few hours. Then again I had several years of past 3d experience when I tried it.
If you want to talk to other people that use maya, join fp's 3d art group on steam: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/3Dart
Some of us use maya, I do and I wouldn't mind at all if you send some questions my way, though I'm by no means a expert and generally online tutorials will do you better.
Woah, did you really buy it with no experience at all?
Surely you mean you got it from Uni.

Or you... you know.

Well it's a good motivator to keep modelling, because you spent all your money on the software. I don't think starting with cars straight away is a good idea if you haven't modelled before. Start small and move up from there.
Oh and you don't sculpt cars.

Well, you can though overall it would be impractical. Might work with making damage though.
Check out the 3D Buzz tutorials, they're absolutely amazing from what I hear.
