So our principal forbids us to say "Power to the People" in the hallways at my school. We were talking about the begining of america in the hallways then he passes us and brings us to his office. He then hands us all centrals (2hr after school detention) So i'm now posting this to my phone. I live in america where free speech is allowed. What should I do?

Confront him, ask him why he takes issue with it.
Ask him why he's being such a damn commie and that he should give the power to the people.
Or for some real advice, ask him why he finds that offensive. Maybe talk to the superintendent or your parents.

My high school won't allow us to say "retard" because it's "offensive to the special needs children".

I agree that the rule is a bit odd, but you just can't go around using free speech as an excuse to say anything you want, anywhere you want. If you want the rule changed, start a petition around your school or something.

Free speech is restricted so you can't yell "Fire" in a theatre, or damage a person's public image by spreading lies about them.
This rule is just dumb.

Honestly?
You have two choices:
1) Sit down and take it like a bitch and don't be remembered.
2) Tell him that he is interfering with your "god given rights". Get into argument about who is right or wrong. Make lawsuit. Be famous at your school, state, etc.
Why is everyone going around your school saying power to the people?
Is it like 'epic'?
