pretty interesting. and damn expensive. [sp] wearing an apple watch at 2:04 [/sp]
I thought it was Linus Torvalds, but instead I got this youtube guy. You tricked me.
HUMAN FACTORS ROOM More software developers need this.

I never understood why these tech channels have sponsors at the beginning and end of the videos. Is ad revenue not enough
I never understood why these tech channels have sponsors at the beginning and end of the videos. Is ad revenue not enough
It's really expensive to make videos with such a high production value.
I never understood why these tech channels have sponsors at the beginning and end of the videos. Is ad revenue not enough
TV shows have sponsors in addition to regular advertising during the breaks. Why can't YouTube channels?
Also that nearly 2 minute long ad at the end of the video starting at 5:00
I never understood why these tech channels have sponsors at the beginning and end of the videos. Is ad revenue not enough
well at least we can somewhat skip them
I never understood why these tech channels have sponsors at the beginning and end of the videos. Is ad revenue not enough
No
TV shows have sponsors in addition to regular advertising during the breaks. Why can't YouTube channels?
Because this is why most people don't watch TV anymore.
I never understood why these tech channels have sponsors at the beginning and end of the videos. Is ad revenue not enough
It allows them to diversify their revenue streams having intro/outro ads in the videos themselves. Linus makes money through a few different ways like he explains in this video.
I never understood why these tech channels have sponsors at the beginning and end of the videos. Is ad revenue not enough
considering there's a team of about 20-30 people working, all with fair canadian wages, at linus' office that they've paid millions to not only own, but also support with a tech backend for filming; nope.
It's really expensive to make videos with such a high production value.
I wish I could take that last part seriously. The production value of Linus Media Group is sketchy at best and they like to throw money around really irresponsibly.
I wish I could take that last part seriously. The production value of Linus Media Group is sketchy at best and they like to throw money around really irresponsibly.
most of the stuff they throw around they get for free or at a large discount for the sake of reviewing and such. linus got a free LG OLED (he's said it was free anyways) that retailed at $5K originally, because it was for a review and he got to keep it. twice. [editline]6th November 2016[/editline] plus if they're able to support the kind of studio they have, they're probably able to throw that money around especially considering they have two unique ads in their videos earning additional revenues.
Sure they get a lot of product sponsorship which in turn produces them revenue and they actively go out their way to get them and others go out of their way to contact them due to the large following but you can't deny that their product quality is sketchy at times and they really love their little money sinks when they dive into something way too fast, then in turn make a whole series out of the messup.
i'm not sure what you mean by 'sketchy.'
Lack of QA on many times where they push a render without giving it a full check so sections of black video, audio and video that should have been cut, missing audio (happened on 3 cases with the intro before they noticed) making it to the final render. I can understand being pressured and rushing but it doesn't take long to scan through a full episode before hitting render and shipping it live so ensure it doesn't have faults which has happened many times. Also whoever was doing the render jobs a few months ago can't do white balance for shit.
