"'Our equal opportunity representative stopped the briefing and told us that we can’t say Christmas,' the soldier told me," Starnes wrote. “'Almost the entire room blew up. Everybody was frustrated. The equal opportunity rep told our commander that not everyone celebrates Christmas and we couldn’t say 'Christmas celebration'. It had to be holiday celebration.'”
Does anyone really follow that rule? I know they tried enforcing that at my school years ago but no one cared about it.
Gotta be politically correct.
"They’re treating Christmas like it’s pornography. As a matter of fact, the Army actually treats pornography better than it does Christmas.”
What's going on? :v:
Now I'm not one to jump onto a bandwagon, but come on.. This kind of crap is a getting a bit too far.
fox news report
Starnes said the soldier was told "an individual can say Christmas, but as an organization in the Army you can’t say Christmas."
However, the Army is claiming there is no ban on the word "Christmas," but rather the officer at the 158th Infantry Brigade was just giving a suggestion.

bogus shit, move along people

This seems to be the case. Why is it always the US and UK pushing political correctness to insanity?
Says IB times quoting a fox news article quoting a random soldier quoting an "equal opportunity representative"
Could they not find a better source?
I can't imagine any non-christian suddenly breaking down and crying after hearing someone say "christmas", tbh.
Oh good, more political correctness bullshit.

Because ethnic and religious minorities are weak and fragile.
Pretty sure the 'ban' is just not calling their holiday celebration a Christmas celebration because there are a bunch of holidays that happen around the winter solstice in different cultures. There is no explicit ban on saying the word Christmas, this is just sensationalist "omg war on christmas!"

its less of being political correct for the sake of not trying to offend people and more of trying to be professional
when you're wearing the uniform, you're representing your military, and the military is a government organization, christmas is considered christian tradition and our government isn't supposed to recognize religion
the officer was just suggesting you shouldn't say christmas because as a multi-cultural organization, you should be more professional
people are acting as if they've banned the word lol, all it was a dude asking them to prefer having to say happy holidays or equivalent
Oh great, first came texas making up a law to allow everyone to say "Merry Christmas" and now this? Seriously who is making up these things?? :tinfoil:

IB Times quotes a Fox News opinion piece, not an article. The facts are categorically different than what was titled "US troops banned from saying Christmas" vs. "An equal opportunity adviser from the 158th Infantry Brigade suggested not to call a football event a 'Christmas football event' but a 'Holiday football event'" - even with the Army clarifying that no ban is in place.
Slayer- you posted a satirical thread last time that said students where banned from saying Christmas. I don't know if you're deliberately hunting for articles that display your viewpoint (i.e. Christmas is banned) but this is the second time neither of your threads have been factual.
