Hot for Hacker: Meet The Women Obsessed With Edward Snowden
"I like that there is nothing sexual about him," Ana* told me. "It makes him even more sexually appealing to me." She's had her eyes on Snowden since he first became a public figure. It's that dry analytical look—everything from his half-rimmed eyeglasses to his seemingly starched dress shirts—that turns her on. Snowden caught her eye immediately, but the feeling solidified as she read about him: "When I learned about the leak my feelings for him got stronger," Ana said.
There's something naughty about Snowden's whistleblowing; it makes some women go crazy for him. Take Mabel, another Snowden fangirl. "Edward Snowden is the sexiest hacker I know," Mabel told me. "He's so bad, I can hardly stand it. But at the same time, he's so good." And it's that combination that seems to really get to people.
Mabel told me that Snowden has integrity and that he's courageous and thoughtful—traits that also turn Ana on. "The fact that he took the risk of going to jail or having to leave the country (apparently forever) makes him more attractive," Ana said. "It's always better to fuck someone that is a rebel."
He's attractive, but damn people are crazy for criminals. I wonder what causes this behavior.
Isn't he taken?
[editline]edit[/editline] He is, his girlfriend was at the Oscars last year.
Is this what this whole issue has boiled down to, seriously? Vice is such garbage, this reads like a goddamn Onion article ffs
can we like, add Vice to that list of bad sources? its pretty much a tabloid parading around as a legit news source from some of the stuff I've seen

Show of hands, who almost confused this for an Onion article or something from a GTA radio station?
This should be no surprise, as soon as a criminal gets mass coverage there's women ready to proclaim their love for them. Same thing happened to Breivik and he's a mass-murdering maniac.
I feel like this is more something out of a 007 plot.
Yes come back to the USA for the sexy times mr hacker man :):):):):):)

usually its because of romanticization, but for this case in particular i'd assume he's considered more of a hero by a lot of people.
Same thing happened to Breivik and he's a mass-murdering maniac.
I really hope you aren't trying to form a parallel between these two. Yeah Snowden got himself in some deep shit with what he did but to equate a whistleblower to a terrorist is absurd

VICE has multiple divisions, some of which put out extremely high quality and interesting content, some of which spew drivel.
What the fuck? Even worse comparing him to a mass murderer?
stop pretending to be so outraged. you know what their point was.
Anyone remotely famous has girls chasing after them. There's entire tumblrs dedicated to the Tsarnev brothers and the Columbine shooters.
What the fuck? Even worse comparing him to a mass murderer?
He committed a crime, he's a criminal by law. If he wasn't a criminal then he would be welcome in the United States.
He can leak thousands of classified government files all over me any day.
"Oh baby, insert your trojan loaded floppy into my front drive."

Daddy issues
he's attractive, intelligent and he stood up to a twisted government. I can understand the appeal.

Attention. Somebody like this gets a lot of attention, women look and him and think, "Oh hey, he must be successful because of how much attention he's getting. He'd make for a good mate. I could be somebody if I was with him and could have an interesting life."
There's different kinds of success though. You have the women that go crazy over someone like Snowden, then you've got the others that go crazy over men like Breivik, Charles Manson, that Tsarnaev brother who is still alive, and so on in that spirit. There's the others that like CEOs, lawyers and businessmen, doctors, professors, etc. And politicians... power is possibly the ultimate attractor, as history (both contemporary and past) teaches. There's politicians in trouble all the time for sexual misconduct and promiscuity. Actors as well, but that's nothing new because of the whole fame, fortune, and looks thing.
Manson is actually married now I think to some dumb bitch admirer; if they aren't married yet, then they're getting married. This came out in the news like two years ago.

"A guy who drives 10 miles over the limit is a crime punishable by the law, thus is criminal."
-"What the fuck? Are you comparing speeding to mass murder?"
What are you trying to do
This really isn't any more screwed up than the women who fawn over serial killers. In fact, this is immensly less disturbing considering the wave of great change Snowden brought instead of ykno, murdering people.
he's attractive, intelligent and he stood up to a twisted government. I can understand the appeal.
And now he's living in a country with an even more twisted government!
He landed this so I'm not sure how good their chances are
