Daammnn, recently I've been getting tired of pixel art, but this is incredible, it looks like it's 3D

They might be using the same trick as ArcSys games where they make a 3D model and do all of the animations on that, cut out some frames for space saving and style, then doing the art over them.

I don't think so, one guy on their team is a designated pixel artist.

It looks more like they made different aspects of the artwork into seperate layers and animated them accordingly to give them that 3D look.
Edit: Oh, I thought you were referring to the closeup shots. The sprite animations do look very decent, though.
Nah, they did a vid about their animation process a while back. Game looks really rad, excited to see it come this far.

can't fucking wait
Is this the same team as the Scott Pilgrim game, because it seems eerily similar in some regards, especially the super-attacks and UI
no but the scott pilgrim was clearly influenced by the original RCR

Man, I was just gonna ask if Paul Robertson was involved in this. Looks fantastic.
About damn time, the gameplay looks somewhat eh to me, depends on how the controls feel, Nekketsu Kakoutou Densetsu was probably my most favorite game of the series tho. Still if you didn't ever own any of these games for the nes you were left out big time.
BARF!
