Queensland police charged Tostee, 28, with murder at 2.02pm today (local time) after arresting him shortly before noon for questioning. He is scheduled to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow. Tostee was taken into custody shortly before noon (local time) today following 26-year-old Wright's death a week ago. Wright, who went by the name Rrie, died a week ago after falling from Tostee's 14th-floor balcony at the Avalon Apartments in Surfers Paradise. She was in Australia for a fortnight to catch up with friends and attend a wedding. It is understood to have met Tostee through popular smartphone dating app Tinder. She worked at a Kiwibank call centre and flatted with her sister Reza, who has travelled to the Gold Coast to bring her sister home. Wright was an aspiring photographer and passionate campaigner for animal rights, regularly posting articles online to raise awareness. She had written to Parliament in the past requesting harsher penalties for animal abusers. She grew up attending Porirua's Seventh-day Adventist Church, where her mother, Beth, is a deacon.
This is the guy from the bodybulding forum right?
This is the guy from the bodybulding forum right?
Correct.
But there's no way he WANTED to kill her.. right? Must have been an accident.. right?
Seems most likely.
Dammit Tostee!
But there's no way he WANTED to kill her.. right? Must have been an accident.. right?
unless they can prove a struggle via bruises or something, worst he can be convicted of is involuntary man slaughter. If she had alcohol in her, then he will probably get aquitted, because who's to say she wasn't too drunk and fell off on her own
I can't imagine why anyone would want to kill a woman they had just met in their own apartment unless he had already been planning to do so, so I'm wondering why he's being charged with murder right off the bat. Did they find something?

I'd assume no malicious intent / planning so at worst I think this is manslaughter.
Manslaughter wouldn't make sense in this situation. Manslaughter is the unknowing, unwilling, or unintentional murder of another person. Like getting in a car accident and the other person being killed, or intending to simply hurt someone but accidentally killing them. If she fell from his balcony he's innocent, if he pushed her, he's guilty of murder. Simple as that.
If she fell from his balcony he's innocent, if he pushed her, he's guilty of murder. Simple as that.
No, it's not that cut and dry. Here's a plausible manslaughter scenario: his balcony wasn't up to code and that (somehow) contributed to her death. His negligence caused her death, or greatly contributed to it, despite having no intention to kill her.

I don't think that's the case, and I still maintain that manslaughter charges are not a likely scenario in this case.
Or he could have lifted her up on the balcony without asking her.
I had a hard time reading his name. For some reason it came out in my head as "Goatse"
