Amsterdam - Some 20 hooded people have attacked an emergency hostel for refugees in the central Dutch city of Woerden, a police spokesperson said on Saturday. They threw powerful fireworks and eggs at the building during the night and tried to force their way inside. It was the first such large-scale attack in the Netherlands, the spokesperson said, adding that police officers arrested 10 people.
Source. Fucking disgusting.

This was bound to happen sometime, let's hope it doesn't get worse than this.
I suggest an exchange program. The reptile brains go to Syria, the refugees take their housing. Most problems solved.
It's quite interesting seeing the differences between Dutch threads about refugees and, say, ones about Sweden or Denmark.
This'll only escalate. Too bad our dumb-fuck politicians don't understand it and continue to give refugees preferential treatment in comparison to citizens. (Free housing, easier access to housing)
As someone living in the Netherlands I'm getting really sick of these people behaving like this. They act like these refugees are a huge risk for our wealth system, that they'll take our jobs, rape our daughters etc etc. Facebook is full of people acting like this and making pages to discuss these acts. I think it's really sickening. -edit- Fuck it. I'm going to register as a volunteer. I live 10 kilometers away from Woerden.
Fuck it. I'm going to register as a volunteer. I live 10 kilometers away from Woerden.
Where do you live? Because I too live 10 kilometers from Woerden.
Since when is this a thing? IRC, refugees are put in refugee camps which they can't simply trade for a regular house.
And homeless are put in alleyways where they freeze to death during the winter. A refugee camp is probably preferable.
And homeless are put in alleyways where they freeze to death during the winter. A refugee camp is probably preferable.
There is housing for homeless people, they have to pay 0 to 10 euros a night. The homeless freezing in the streets are drug addicts who rather pay for drugs than housing.
Where do you live? Because I too live 10 kilometers from Woerden.
Bodegraven!
Bodegraven!
... How is it that I manage to run into probably the one other person on here living in this hellhole?
This is true, it's 5 euro's here for homeless people. (+ they have to take a mandatory shower and get breakfast) But why we're not charging the refugees I don't get. Are these people poor? They shouldn't be, because as far as I'm told they're not economic refugees... 5 euro's a night shouldn't be a problem for them for the period of time it takes them to get through the naturalisation process and get a job and house of themselves.
Well, 5 euros a night, for 30 days, is 60 euros. Let's assume most people who flee their country aren't wealthy, nor had much in the way of hauling their assets with them. If they don't get a job quickly, or scrape together a relatively low paying job, 60 euros for just one person, or 180 euros for a family of three, really eats away quickly. If they don't speak the local language yet (and 30 days is absolutely no time to fluently learn a language) it's even harder to get money. If they can't or won't pay, then you have someone who is culturally isolated with limited language skills out on the streets. This is where that sort of person either radicalizes or becomes a criminal in order to keep living. They are refugees. They may not be some weird economic refugees, but they are people who have given up everything to go somewhere where they have nothing. Also, about the matter of Anti-refugee sentiments being a minority, it doesn't matter if they're only say, 10% of the population because if that 10% is going to be violent and vitriolic then there is still a serious problem. Imagine if 10% of a country took up arms and began murdering their nextdoor neighbors. Society would grind to a halt, even if the 90% would never imagine doing such a thing. The minority of people who will act on rascist and xenophobic thoughts must be much smaller if you want to effectively prevent them from having a real impact on society.
Didn't you hear? We invaded you swamp germans a while ago.
What's a Denmark?
But why we're not charging the refugees I don't get. Are these people poor?
Treating foreigners better than your own citizens is disgusting.
Treating foreigners better than your own citizens is disgusting.
I agree fully. If some Europeans decided to insert themselves into a foreign nation, and imposed their will and culture upon the populace: it would be called 'colonialism'. When some Moslems do the same to European nations: they are 'refugees' and they provide 'cultural enrichment'.
Treating foreigners better than your own citizens is disgusting.
I agree, but I think the government should try to do something in order to ease the tensions between citizens and refugees.
I agree fully. If some Europeans decided to insert themselves into a foreign nation, and imposed their will and culture upon the populace: it would be called 'colonialism'. The fuck?
Treating foreigners better than your own citizens is disgusting.
And not providing basic human needs to people that need them to the point that they crossed the bloody Mediterranean with only their clothes and a rubber dinghy to get them is even more disgusting. And so are the people advocating this treatment.
I agree fully. If some Europeans decided to insert themselves into a foreign nation, and imposed their will and culture upon the populace: it would be called 'colonialism'. When some Moslems do the same to European nations: they are 'refugees' and they provide 'cultural enrichment'.
Because taking a nation by force is the same as fleeing from a war?
And not providing basic human needs to people that need them to the point that they crossed the bloody Mediterranean with only their clothes and a rubber dinghy to get them is even more disgusting.
Why give foreigners more than your own citizens? Governments exist to serve their citizens.
lmao what, how are they 'imposing their will and culture' they fled from a fucking warzone, they're by definition refugees
only a fraction of the people coming to Europe are actually Syrians fleeing from war [editline]11th October 2015[/editline] a lot of them are just opportunists who claim to be Syrian and throw away their passport before entering the EU -- the border guards and government agencies that are supposed to check are overworked and can't tell the difference in any case.

Mostly male teenagers and middle aged men?

And also, I'd like a source for that.
most of them aren't even families, right? Mostly male teenagers and middle aged men?
yes. 70, 80, 85% male, depending on where you're looking at. I watched a livestream of the budapest riots and later a ferry unloading migrants onto a greek island -- estimated 75% male, mostly in their 20s and 30s. [editline]11th October 2015[/editline]
And also, I'd like a source for that.
germany estimates 30% are syrians http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/germany/11891219/Refugee-crisis-Many-migrants-falsely-claim-to-be-Syrians-Germany-says-as-EU-tries-to-ease-tensions.html there was an article, can't find it right now, about the border between I think Hungary and Serbia -- there were loads of non-Syrian passports just littering the ground on the Serbian side, dumped by migrants before hopping into the EU
