• Tom Cruise says he's up for Top Gun 2, however only if they don't use CGI at all
Tom Cruise took a moment to chat with “Extra’s” AJ Calloway at the premiere of his new film, “Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation,” on Thursday at the Vienna Opera House. The 53-year-old actor set the record straight on whether he would reprise his role as Maverick in the upcoming "Top Gun 2." Tom shared, "If I can figure it out, if all of us can figure it out, it’d be fun to do, I’d like to fly those jets again, but we got to do all the jets practical, no CGI on the jets… I’m saying right now no CGI on the jets. If we can figure all that out, and the Department of Defense will allow us to do it, that would be fun.”
http://extratv.com/2015/07/23/will-tom-cruise-reprise-maverick-role-in-top-gun-2/
A little shred of integrity from Cruise, I don't really know what they could do with a Top Gun 2 but hey it'd be atleast fun to just have some interesting dog fights.
They will film it without him. No way DoD will let anyone from Hollywood use military jets anyway.
They will film it without him. No way DoD will let anyone from Hollywood use military jets anyway.
So you think Top Gun 1 was only shot with plastic models or what?
They will film it without him. Come on lad use your brain, they'd probably roll over backwards and let them use whatever they could within reason
There's middle ground between letting Tom Cruise sit in cockpit of an F-22 and making a live action Planes movie.
They will film it without him. No way DoD will let anyone from Hollywood use military jets anyway.
You are aware that all the missile shots in Top Gun are all the same single missile shot that the USN did for them right? You are also aware that the scenes inside the planes were actually filmed inside an F14 in the air right?
So you think Top Gun 1 was only shot with plastic models or what?
That was way back in 1986. We live in 2015.
That was way back in 1986. We live in 2015.
I dunno, it increased USN recruitment by 500%. I bet if a film producer was willing to pay for fuel like before they would be happy for it.
That was way back in 1986. We live in 2015.
You mean they year when Hollywood shows enough corporate power projection to basically dictate international criminal law changes?
I dunno, it increased USN recruitment by 500%. I bet if a film producer was willing to pay for fuel like before they would be happy for it.
This. Recruitment shot up like a motherfucker when Top Gun came out. Granted, the military is downsizing for the most part nowadays and isn't looking for a huge recruiting boost, but it'll take a while for the film to be made anyways. Something is bound to happen that'll require warheads on foreheads by then.
You mean they year when Hollywood shows enough corporate power projection to basically dictate international criminal law changes?
I mean that things change and no one tried to pull the same thing Top Gun pulled almost 30 years ago, there are reasons for that.

I like how tom cruise has been watching out for his films recently. He started actually caring for them after that plane jump
Tom Cruise is getting to grips with reality now after leaving scrubbontology
Tom, you remember what happened last time you did Top Gun without CGI? That's right, one of the world's greatest stunt pilots died. Can we not kill people this time?
Tom, you remember what happened last time you did Top Gun without CGI? That's right, one of the world's greatest stunt pilots died. Can we not kill people this time?
However terrible, that is the reason stunt people exists, so the actors don't permanently hurt themselves or in worst case, dies. It's the risk that goes with the career, fatal injuries and death. Not doing something because someone died once is a terrible way of thinking, that's why we still drive cars, fly planes, drink alcohol, party and exercise extreme sports.
i mean they got to put emma stone in an f-22 so [t]http://www.theuncool.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/ngshaka.jpg[/t] i'd love to see f-35Cs, the tech is probably more advanced but they are export ready so idk if that'll work cruise is older than the vast majority of pilots but he can pass off as 30 something, so maybe f/a-18(E)s or maybe they can still find a tomcat somewhere [editline]26th July 2015[/editline]
Tom, you remember what happened last time you did Top Gun without CGI? Lol Lockheed would let them use F-35's just for the PR I believe an early draft was about Maverick as a test pilot for the F-35 before that director shot himself
They will film it without him. No way DoD will let anyone from Hollywood use military jets anyway.
I was under the impression the air force provided jets for Top Gun 1 since the movie was basically a glorified recruitment video.
That was way back in 1986. We live in 2015.
and you think the government doesn't want more pro war pro military hollywood pseudo propaganda?
They should have Maverick dogfight F-22s and F-35s in the superior F-14 Super Tomcat.

I'm sure the Navy would love another Top Gun. [editline]26th July 2015[/editline]
They should have Maverick dogfight F-22s and F-35s in the superior F-14 Super Tomcat.
That he has to repo from Iran because I'm pretty sure the US destroyed all their tomcats.
They will film it without him. No way DoD will let anyone from Hollywood use military jets anyway.
where do you think a lot of the military equipment in movies comes from?
Act of Valor came out in 2012 and featured SEALs and SWCCs played by active duty SEALs and SWCCs. That's a bit less of an investment, but it shows the Navy is willing to contribute a lot if it means good publicity.
Make it happen, I want more danger zone
You gotta remember this was the guy that did that breathtaking Burj Khalifa scene and trained for 5 years to do 1 shootout in Collateral with perfection. His commitment to stunts are fucking admirable.
There's middle ground between letting Tom Cruise sit in cockpit of an F-22 and making a live action Planes movie.
top gun is navy it'd be f18s
I love Top Gun with all my heart, but I feel like a sequel could go horribly wrong. I kind of hope it doesn't happen.
