Hey guys, i'm creating a small game, and, I need some art for it. The game is about tanks, and yeah, further i'm not sure what i'm going to do with it, probably add enemy tanks, or make the game multiplayer. Here is what the game looks like right now: The tank can move, turn, the top can turn, and the tank can fire bullets. But as you can see, the art is really bad, the bullets look like shit and so does the tank. Now, I am asking if someone can make a good, nice tank, bullet, and a top of a tank. (The tank, and the top of the tank have to be seperate images.) It would be great if someone did this for me, I will ofcourse credit you! The tank can be anywhere from around 300x300 to 100x100, just dont make it too big or too small. Bullets must fit the loop, if possible. Thanks!
Do you have any sort of theme in mind or era?
Well, I think it will be World War 2 themed, so it would be nice if I had a tank which looked something like in that era.
Allright, well I am working on one now, probably be finished by tomorrow.
World War II is getting overdone, I think.

What language/API/engine are you using? Just curious. Any era WWI and after had tanks. If you wanted to, you could even start in WWI and work your way forward through history, and into the future (mechs or some shit).

I see the tanks BUT WHERE IS THE ASS
The back of the tank is the big square thing, seen on the top of the tank in the picture. Front is without any stuff.
Any other people willing to do this? I will need alot of tanks, probably world war 2: japanese, russian, and US tanks would be cool.

Ofcourse I can do that. I just have no idea what to make. My game atm.
I think this game would benefit greatly from having the tank being much smaller (say you draw the tanks at 1000x1000, but downsize it to say 100x100) since it looks like the current is much too much zoomed in. I think you should have the tanks from the end of world war 2 to the collapse of the iron curtain, tanks evolved quite rapidly (and even had plenty of experimental designs) during that time period due to the cold war.
yeah the art looks a bit rubbish but I like the particle effects. Ill whip something up and post it here as an example

um. no offence, but the whole game is... lacking the game aspect. i doubt this will ever be finished, but in case it will be: fuck the art, used colored boxes for now. you don't need art at this point... you need to finish the game part. what other features are you adding? do you even have a design doc? seriously, there's no reason for anyone to waste their time making art for a game that isn't planned out, and realistically will never be finished. what you have right now is a box that can turn and move with another box that has it's position set to the first box. oh and they can shoot things with particles. this isn't even a days work.
I planned it out, I created schematics, how i'm gonna do it, etc, not on the computer, but on paper, don't be so harsh. Also, players don't need to put their fucking life in the art, just a simple tank. Working on the menu now.
I agree in what above poster wrote. But I'll try to make something, let's hope it's good. Oh, and what parts do I make. Do I just make the top then the body, or do I make everything in a while piece?

Just start with making concept art, then develop from there.
Just start with making concept art, then develop from there.
he could do fine with his current art to be honest

[editline]15th August 2011[/editline] Also i'm currently working on it with high-speed.

[editline]15th August 2011[/editline] Also i'm currently working on it with high-speed.
Oh well, I won't be able to work on it today anyways. Make it simple at first. Make one big cube for the body, one smaller for the barrel and then a long rectangle for the pipe. No need to develop it further before you have reached anything special.
Well, i'll just use the tanks I got now.
There's a reason games in development look like shit, focus on the game part.
I can't stand the art being terrible (made by me) at any stage of game development. I often use things like this: http://opengameart.org/content/spaceships2-top-down Are they tanks? No. However, after seeing this thread, I decided to try making my own 2d shmup. I ended up using one of the battleship images as the "tank" and one of the smaller assault ship images as the "turret(s)." I don't know about you, but I find art inspiring. Seeing decent game art, even if it isn't close to what I will eventually have, is pretty motivational. Maybe google 'free 2d game art.' Be mindful of the user comments, published licence, etc. It isn't a big deal if you just need the art for dev purposes, but is very important if you plan to release your game with their art. Also, people love seeing their name in credits.

Why does your tank game look nearly identical to a Game maker tank example that I saw quite a while back, with the only difference being the lazily re-prepared graphics? No, I'm being serious, I used to do shit like this all the time with the same Game maker file. I never actually called it my own game though.
